Magdalena Gajewska (born   June 1th  1968 in Gdańsk) in 1993 graduated Hydro-Engineering Faculty at Gdańsk University of Technology.  

At present she is an assistant professor in the Department of Water and Wastewater Technology at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering GUT. PhD (2001) and habilitation (2013) in the discipline of environmental engineering. In the 2016-2020 term, serves as Vice -dean for science.

She specialize in technologies related to eco-engineering: natural methods of wastewater treatment and disposal of sewage sludge, sustainable water management in urban areas (WSUD), protection and restoration of water bodies. She used to conduct research on the application of treatment wetlands for wastewater treatment and water pollution control, in particular, she is interested the transformation of nitrogen compounds in wetlands systems. 

Magdalena Gajewska is an author or co-author of 40 papers listed in the Web of Science database, five books and over 100 peer-reviewed publications.

In 2011/2012 team award in the contest of Master of Technology for the development of an innovative technical solution entitled "Implementation and promotion of ecological engineering for sewage treatment plants."

In 2008 she received the Bronze Medal of the President of the Republic of Poland for a long service and in 2015  medal  of National Education Commission (KEN).

Co-organizer of six international conferences and three seminars and she was a chair of the organizing committee of the international, cyclical, “International Conference on Wetland systems", organized under the aegis of the IWA (International Water Association), 4-9 September 2016 Gdańsk, Poland.

She is the editor theme in the Journal of Ecological Engineering.

She is a member of the Global Water Partnership and the IWA, and in 2014 -2016 was coordinator for the European Region in the IWA Specialist Group on Wetland Systems for Water Pollution Control and from 2016 she is a president of this Specialist Group.

She is a wife of Ryszard and mother of Rafał (23) and Radosław (13) interested in truism and marches orientation.
