Description
Data from wind tunnel tests of Aerosesne measurement system installed on NACA 63418 aerfoil in the anechoic wind tunnel at the Ecole Centrale Lyon.
A NACA 63418 wing profile with a chord of 12 cm and a span of 30 cm was placed between twoend-plates at the outlet of the open-jet wind tunnel of 0.4 m x 0.3 m.
Measurements were carried out for different wind speeds (from 12.5 m s−1 to 50 m s−1, Re = 1 × 10e5 to 6.5 × 10e5, M a = 0.04 to 0.22) and for different inflow turbulent intensity: 0% as a reference case and 8% to represent field measurements.
The Aerosense measurement system was tested for static angle of attacks from −4◦to 24◦.
The barometers of the Aerosense measurement system were compared with 20 pressure points measured at mid-span using a Kulite KMPS-1-64 pr essure scanner. The pressure scanner acquired pressure data from pin-holes via capillary tubes at a sampling frequency of 1.1 kHz.
The microphones of the Aerosense measurement system were compared with 12 Br ̈uel & Kjaer 4958 type microphones distributed along the chord, using the same pin-holes. The acquired fluctuating wall pressure signals were recorded at 51.2 kHz after calibration
Measurement series:
- ms000: instrumented NACA63-418 without any external sensors
- ms001: instrumented aerofoil with GRAS microphones
- ms002: instrumented aerofoil with Aerosense microphones only
- ms003: instrumented aerofoil with Aerosense absolute pressure sensors
- ms004: instrumented aerofoil with Aerosense differential pressure sensors
For each measurement series, 119 measurement points (with minor exceptions):
- TI: turbulence intensity grid. 0 means no grid (almost 0% turbulence intensity), 8 means a grid yielding a turbulence intensity of 8% (no spectrum provided though)
- U0: wind speed in meter per second. 12.5 m s−1 yields: Re = 1.0×105, M a = 0.037, q0 = 100 Pa. 25 m s−1 yields: Re = 2.1 × 105, M a = 0.074, q0 = 390 Pa. 50 m s−1 yields: Re = 4.2 × 105, M a = 0.147, q0 = 1550 Pa
- DP1 means sinusoidal dynamic pitching creating dynamic stall around α0 = 10◦, with amplitude of α1 = 20◦, with a frequency of fs = 1.989 Hz (k = 0.06 at 12.5 m s−1).
- DP2 means sinusoidal pitching representing high shear flow around α0 = 10◦, with amplitude of α1 = 4◦, with a frequency of fs = 0.663 Hz at at 25 m s−1) (k = 0.01), with a frequency of fs = 1.326 Hz at at 50 m s−1) (k = 0.01)
- SP means sand paper at the leading edge to simulate leading edge erosion.
