Data on wages, gender wage gap and global value chains measured on the European Structure of Earnings Survey and World Input-Output Database.
Description
This data article describes the data and merging procedure used by Nikulin and Wolszczak-Derlacz (Nikulin and Wolszczak-Derlacz, 2022).
Raw individual data were derived from the European Structure of Earnings Survey (SES: 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014 waves) and merged with industry-level data from the World Input-Output Database (WIOD) release 2016 and country-level data: Penn World Table (PWT 9.0) and data on coordination of wage setting were derived from the database on Institutional Characteristics of Trade Unions, Wage Setting, State Intervention and Social Pacts (ICTWSS). Finally, a dataset on around 6.5 million workers employed in 22 manufacturing sectors from 18 European countries was obtained. This article reports the descriptive statistics of the used sample and provides statistics on male and female wage distribution across years, skill and occupation levels.
