Simulation of ship turning circle test for ballast and full load conditions

Description

The data show the results of the turning circle spiral test for the simplified ship model, taking into account two states of loading: ballast and full load. During the circulation test, the manoeuvrability of the vessel is tested.

The test consists of left (L) and right (R) manoeuvring at the maximum permissible rudder angle for a given vessel speed. The manoeuvre lasts until the vessel makes two or more full rotations. The result of the circulation test shall be shown on the vessel path diagram in the plane, as shown in the figure.

Illustration of the publication

The indicators determining the manoeuvrability of the vessel for the circulation test are: transfer at 90 (deg) heading (x090), tactical diameter (y0180), circulation diameter (fixed) (Dc), maneuverability (Dc/L). The criteria for deciding whether the maneuverability of the ship is satisfactory are set out in the rules of Classification Societies, such as the Polish Register of Shipping (PRS).

The data set contains the results of time simulation for sea state 40on the Beaufort scale: changes in rudder angle delta_tab(deg); angular velocity r_tab(deg/s); surge velocity u_tab(m/s); sway velocity v_tab (m/s); surge position x_tab(m); sway position y_tab(m); course kurs_tab(deg); propeller revolution ns_tab (in revolution per second). Circulation test inputs: set rudder angle: delta_z_tab(deg), Time of starting rudder execute: t_rudderexecute 200(sec), No. Beaufort scale: No_B=4(0B), wind angle:gamma_w =90 (deg), set propeller revolution: ns_tab=1.78 (in revolution per second).
