The instantaneous flicker sensation level measured in the industrial power system supplying the rolling mill motors

Description

The dataset presents the instantaneous flicker sensation level measured on the bus bars of the main switchgear of the industrial power network for the supply of rolling mills. The data were obtained during an experiment whose purpose was to determine a level of short-term and long-term flicker caused by voltage fluctuations. In the virtual application of flickermeter, a hardware (acquisition of measuring data) and a software (computer data processing and graphical interface) part is distinguished. The attached dataset contains processed data at the output of the software part of the flickermeter.

Analyzes were made based on measurements carried out in one of the Polish steel mills. The results are placed in two datasets [Pałczyńska, B., & Tarasiuk, T. (2020). Voltage fluctuations on the main switchgear of the industrial power system supplying the rolling mill motors [Data set]. Gdańsk University of Technology. https://doi.org/10.34808/wv44-3z34] and [Pałczyńska, B., & Tarasiuk, T. (2021). Voltage fluctuations on the main switchgear of the industrial power system supplying the rolling mill motors_part_2 [Data set]. Gdańsk University of Technology. https://doi.org/10.34808/dx3f-0a72].

The virtual application of the flicker severity meter Flickermeter. vi is developed in the LabVIEW National Instruments programming environment. The following input data are introduced at the input of the virtual instrument, consisting of two sub-programs: one determining the instantaneous flicker sensation level (Fig. 1) and a statistical analyzer, in which the flicker severity factors are calculated:

-           fs sampling frequency equal to 20 000 S/s,

-           Ts  time of observation equal to 10 min,

-           procedure repeating time,

-           m  number of quantization levels (classes).

The date in files inst_flicker_1.txt, inst_flicker_1.txt, inst_flicker_3.txt, and inst_flicker_4.txt are related with date in  steel_mill_1, steel_mill_2, steel_mill_3, steel_mill_4, respectively.
