Wave propagation signals in concrete beams under 3-point bending

Description

The DataSet contains the results of the mechanical behaviour of a concrete beams with dimensions 40 x 40 x 160 cm3under the 3-point bending. The beams were made of concrete with the following ingredients: CEM I 42.5R (450 kg/m3), water (177 kg/m3), sand 0-2 (675 kg/m3) and gravel 2-8 (675 kg/m3). The bending test was performed using a Zwick/Roell Z10 universal testing machine (UTM). The parameters of the test were: a preload of 20 N, a constant mid-span displacement increment of 0.05 mm/min. The tests were stopped after 600 s. The distance between supports was 120 mm.

During the bending test, ultrasonic testing (UT) measurements were carried out. Wave propagation signals were registered every 2 s with a sampling frequency of 10 MHz by a digital oscilloscope. The excitation was a five-cycle wave packet with a central frequency of 500 kHz.

Illustration of the publication

The experimental analysis was performed on three beams (denoted as beams #1–#3) made of the same concrete.

The UT files utilize a comma-separated values (.csv) format and contain wave propagation signals of a length of 5 m. In a single file, the time vector (in ms) and the signals from channels A, B, C, D and E (in V) can be found. The UTM file has (.txt) extension and contains the time of the test (in s, 2nd column), force (in N, 3rd column) and displacement of traverse (in mm, 4th column).
