Wetland macrophytes purification and decomposition rates

Description

This dataset contains experimental findings on the purification and decay effect of macrophytes used in floating treatment wetlands. Phragmites australis, Iris pseudacorus, Typha latifolia, Juncus inflexus, Nympha, and Limnobium were used for this project. In the first step (purification phase), the removal efficiency of chosen plants was evaluated (N, P, COD, nitrogen compounds). During the decay phase, the decomposition rate of shoots and stems was determined. Nutrients and TOC analyses were employed to verify the potential water recontamination due to organic matter decomposition.

This dataset is the outcome of research carried out within the framework of the task „Granty dla młodych naukowców” [Grants for Young Scientists] entitled: „Ocena dekompozycji biomasy oraz uwalniania substancji biogennych ze ściółki makrofitów wykorzystywanych w systemach inżynierskich pływających wysp hydrofitowych” [Assessment of biomass decomposition rate and release of nutrients from macrophyte litters in floating treatment wetlands].
