Biography
Piotr Marczak is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Gdańsk University of Technology and since 2016 a Vice-Dean for Education and Promotion. He is also is also a member of the Pomeranian District Chamber of Architects (POIA RP).
His research and publications focus on the theory of architecture, revitalization and transformation within the ports areas and the Baltic coast. These studies are associated with the action lines of revitalization land and facilities port areas, which in addition to its primary functions are able to fulfill new functions, among others those related to tourism.
The second area of research are scientific activities in the field of architectural education, related to the co-creation workshop "Architectural Educator", established at the Faculty of Architecture of GUT, from 2011/2012 acad. year. As part of the activities there are various actions for children and young people carried out. They are associated with the transmission of knowledge in the field of space design. The results of the research and activities undertaken serves as a base to prepare, in collaboration with students, the publication:Pomorskie ABC Space Illustrated Dictionary for Children, containing CD with educational materials for teachers (schedules of the lessons in the field of architectural education). The publication has been financed by POIA RP and was released in 2016. On the basis of these actions dr Marczak was nominated as a coordinator of the "Shaping Space" at the Pomeranian District Chamber of Architects.
For teaching and organization at the Faculty of Architecture he won several times Rector of GUT Award. Diploma thesis made under his supervision have been awarded in the annual national competition of the diploma work, so called: Diploma of the Year.
