The project aims to improve the quality and breakthrough of scientific research by undertaking pioneering research work on "Increasing the sense of security of workers and students during the pandemic through the use of SARS-COV-2 biophotonic sensor networks in the workplace or learning environment", which is currently one of the key research issues for socio-economic development. Despite the ongoing SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, socio-economic factors are forcing a return to teaching and stationary work - in educational institutions and in the workplace. As the symptoms of COVID-19 are very similar to other respiratory infections (e.g. influenza), so the development and implementation of a sensor to distinguish between these viruses could have an impact on the sense of safety of students and staff. The aim of this project is to develop and deploy biophotonic sensors in workplaces and educational facilities to increase the sense of safety of students and staff. With the developed sensors, when a student/employee shows symptoms of illness, it will be possible to quickly distinguish SARS-CoV-2 infection from influenza type A/B. In addition, sensors will be proposed to detect the virus in ventilation and air conditioning systems in educational institutions and workplaces. The introduction of such a system in educational establishments/companies will be able to ensure awareness among employees that the school/workplace is safe, which in turn will improve their safety and comfort. Evaluation of the solution as a project product will be carried out in the laboratory and non-laboratory conditions: educational institutions and state fire brigade units. The research will include the design and elaboration of the sensors system as well as the collection of opinions on its possible impact on the feeling of safety of the surveyed students and employees. The proposed research is interdisciplinary and the project will involve researchers from many fields: electronics, biotechnology, environmental engineering, mathematics, management, and sociology.
