Recovery of valuable products from food waste fermentation and digestion – process intensification and modeling

The project consists of three tasks. (1) Pretreatment intensification to increase solubilization and hydrolysis of food waste by using sonocavitation and hydrothermal pretreatment. (2) Biostimulation to discover the stimulating mechanism of fermentation and digestion amendment by sonocavitation and hydrothermal liquid products, unveil the carbon and nitrogen transformation during food waste fermentation. (3) Modeling to develop a simulation dynamic model combining the following processes: pretreatment (thermal/disintegration), substrate fermentation/digestion.
