Abstract
The application of artificial intelligence in technological processes control is usually limited. One problem is how to respond to changes in the environment of manufacturing system. A way to overcome the above shortcoming is to use fuzzy logic for representation of the inexact information. In this paper fundamentals of artificial intelligence and fuzzy logic are introduced from a theoretical point of view. Still more the fuzzy logic system could be responsible for the changes in the production if it is self-learning/adaptive by automatic fuzzy rules generation. Another problem is how to balance the conflicting situations concerning facts and rules. The classical expert system or Petri-nets are usually subjective assessment to overcome this. In the present work a self adaptive method is proposed, based on fuzzy rule base. An adaptive system is presented, where the control actions of a complex technological process could be automatically generated. Practical approaches are developed and focused on real time problems related to flexible manufacturing cell. Techniques for design and implementation of fuzzy systems are presented in the framework of control system engineering. The production system is a mechanism for creating an adaptive module that controls production and quality states. Applications of fuzzy logic-based systems to monitoring and control of flexible manufacturing cell working processes, and to problems of related interest are reviewed.
