Biography

Rafał Janowicz since 2011, he is an associate professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the Gdańsk University of Technology, at the Department of Technical Fundamentals of Architectural Design. He has graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Gdańsk University of Technology in 2001, with the major in Architecture and Urban Design, and two years later from the Faculty of Management and Economics with the major in Management and Marketing. In 2011, at the Faculty of Architecture at the Gdańsk University of Technology, he has defended his doctoral dissertation titled: “Wizualna komunikacja marketingowa w architekturze”, supervised by prof. Andrzej Baranowski, DSc. Eng. Arch. The dissertation has ended up in the 2nd place in a competition for the best doctoral dissertation in terms of culture studies, organized by the National Centre for Culture, and has been published as a monograph in terms of the Kurs na kulturę series [2012].

Since 2003, the co-owner of an architectural office, dealing with designing industrial facilities and those dedicated for the health services. Since 2006 an active member of the Pomeranian Regional Chamber of Architects. In the years 2010-2014 he has acted as a Judge of the Regional Disciplinary Court of the PRCA. In 2014 he has been selected as a member of the Board of the Pomeranian Regional Chamber of Architects. Since 2012, he acts as a consultant and advisor in terms of designs concerning developmental works at the F. Ceynowa Specialist Hospital in Wejherowo. Since 2014, a member of the Association of Polish Architects, in which he acts in the contest committee of the Oddział Wybrzeże. A member of the Polish Ergonomics Society.

In his researches, he continues to analyze the influence of the concept of marketing communication on the forming of contemporary architecture of public utility facilities: The role of ergonomics in architectonic and marketing operations in: Advances in Human Factors and Sustainable Infrastructure, edit. J. Charytonowicz (2014); He has popularized his research results with speeches inter alia at the: Archi Prelekcje (Gdynia 2013),  BigBookFestival (Warszawa 2013); Dekada Kadry Kultury (Poznań 2013), the University of Sofia (2013) and expositions by Sarp Oddział Wybrzeże 2016, Institute of Industrial Design of the University of Koszalin (2016).

He focuses his second field of scientific research on the issues of forming contemporary industrial facilities, with a special emphasis on workplace safety. Concerning this, he analyzes the specifics of the impact of the development of contemporary technologies, on the ergonomics and architecture of medical and laboratory facilities. He has presented the results of his researches, inter alia during the 14th International Ergonomics Conference “Man – Science – Environment” MSE (2012, 2016); AHFE Conference - Advances in Human Factors and Sustainable Infrastructure (2014).
