Electrostatic Zipping Actuators—Analysis of the Pull-In Effect Depending on the Geometry Parameters
PublicationContinuous work on a new generation of actuators, referred to as artificial muscles, resulted in the initiation of work on electrostatic zipping actuators, the concept of which is derived from micro electro-mechanical devices. Despite partial knowledge of their basic operating parameters, a question remains whether electrostatic zipping actuators are able to meet the expectations in the context of generated forces and control possibilities....

Amplitude-distance spectroscopy in semi-contact mode
Open Research DataSince it was invented by Binnig et al. in 1986, atomic force microscopy (AFM) plays a key role in science and technology at the nanoscale. AFM is a microscopic technique that visualizes the surface topography using the attractive and repulsive forces of interaction between several atoms (in theory) of a blade attached to the end of the probe lever and...

Suitability study of hybrid model of electrodynamic actuator
PublicationThe paper presents the proposal of the hybrid circumferential model of an electrodynamic actuator. The field model uses the inductor current as the input data which is obtained from the circumferential model or experimentally.

Multi-DBD actuator with floating interelectrode for aerodynamic control
PublicationIn this paper the use of a floating inter-electrode in a multi-DBD (dielectric barrier discharge) plasma actuator is described. The multi-DBD plasma actuators with floating inter-electrodes were investigated to get a longer DBD on a dielectric surface and to maximise generated net airflow. Our actuator was used to control the boundary layer flow separation around NACA0012 airfoil model. The results of our investigations suggests...

Suitability study of hybrid model of electrodynamic actuator
PublicationThis paper presents the proposal of the hybrid circuit-field model of an electrodynamic actuator. The field model uses the inductor current as the input data which is obtained from the circuit model or experimentally. The field model implemented using the FLUX program makes it possible to easily determine the pressure distribution acting on the disc. The results have been verified experimentally.
