Symmetrical and unsymmetrical diphosphanes with diversified alkyl, aryl and amino substituents
PublicationWe present the comprehensive study of diphosphanes with diversified substituents regarding their syntheses, structures, and properties. To this end, we have synthesized a series of novel unsymmetrical alkyl, aryl and amino-substituted diphosphanes of the general formula R1R2P-PR3R4 (where R1, R2, R3, R4 = tBu, Ph, Et2N or iPr2N) via salt metathesis reactionof halophosphanes with metal phosphides in high yield. We vastly expanded...

The new diphosphanylphosphido complexes of tungsten(VI) and molybdenum(VI). Their synthesis, structures and properties
PublicationWe report on the reactivity of R2P–P(Li)–PR’2 (R = tBu, iPr, R’ = NEt2, iPr) towards diimido complexes [(dippN)2MCl2·dme] (M = Mo, W and dipp = 2,6-iPr2C6H3). A series of new complexes with diphosphanylphosphido ligands R2P–P–PR’2 were isolated. The solid-state structures of [(dippN)2M(Cl)(1,2-η-iPr2P–P– PiPr2)] (2Mo and 2W) and [(dippN)2M(Cl){1,2-η-tBu2P–P–P(NEt2)2}] (3Mo and 3W) were established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction...

A tetragonal polymorph of SrMn2P2 made under high pressure – theory and experiment in harmony
PublicationFollowing the predictions of total energy calculations, a tetragonal SrMn2P2 phase is proposed and successfully formed under high pressure. At ambient pressure, SrMn2P2 adopts the primitive trigonal La2O3 structure type (space group P[3 with combining macron]m1). However, the results of total energy calculations indicate that SrMn2P2 should be more stable in the tetragonal ThCr2Si2 structure type (space group I4/mmm) than in its...

Silver complexes stabilized by large silanethiolate ligands – crystal structures and luminescence properties
PublicationBulky silanethiolate and disiladithiolate ligands were applied to synthesize one mononuclear and three trinuclear silver complexes including two cyclic “microclusters” and a linear tri-nuclear silanethiolate complex. All obtained compounds are characterized by X-ray diffraction and FT-IR. NMR and emission spectroscopies were used where possible. The first trinuclear anionic silver thiolate is structurally characterized. The influence...

An investigation on the chemistry of the R2P=P ligand: reactions of a phosphanylphosphinidene complex of tungsten(VI) with electrophilic reagents
PublicationThe nucleophilic properties of the title compound [(2,6-i-Pr2C6H3N)2(Cl)W(η2-t-Bu2PvP)]Li·3DME (1) were investigated in reactions with selected electrophilic reagents such as MeI, M(CO)5THF (M = Cr, Mo, W), AlCl3, and GaCl3. Methylation of 1 by MeI yields phosphanylphosphido complexes [(2,6-i-Pr2C6H3N)2W(X)(1,2-η-t-Bu2PvP–CH3)] (X = Cl, I) (2-Cl/2-I) with the formation of a new P–C bond. Moreover, 1 reacts with electrophilic compounds...

The reactivity of 1,1-dichloro-2,2-di-tert-butyldiphosphane towards lithiated metal carbonyls: a new entry to phosphanylphosphinidene dimers
PublicationReactions of [Cp*(OC)3M]Li (Cp* = C5Me5, M = Mo, W) towards t-Bu2P–PCl2 lead to the formation of phosphanylphosphinidene dimers [Cp*(OC)3M(η2-t-Bu2P–P)]2 in fairly good yields. The formation of a tetraphosphorus ligand proceeds via reductive dimerization of t-Bu2P–P units. NMR, X-ray investigations and DFT calculations show that the resulting tetraphosphorus ligand has a structure of dication t-Bu2P+=P–P=P+t-Bu2.

π-Stacking attraction vs. electrostatic repulsion: competing supramolecular interactions in a tpphz-bridged Ru(ii)/Au(iii) complex
PublicationThe synthesis and characterization of a mixed metal ruthenium(II)/gold(III) complex bridged by tetrapyridophenazine (tpphz) are described. It is isostructural and isoelectronic to the well-known photocatalysts with palladium(II) or platinum(II). Concentration dependent 1H-NMR spectroscopy and XRD studies show that the electrostatic repulsion between the gold(III) moieties exceeds the attractive π-stacking interaction. Theoretical...

Synthesis and characterization of mononuclear Zn(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes containing a sterically demanding silanethiolate ligand derived from tris(2,6-diisopropylphenoxy)silanethiol
PublicationFour heteroleptic complexes of zinc(II), cobalt(II) and nickel(II) containing a monodentate silanethiolate ligand derived from tris(2,6-diisopropylphenoxy)silanethiol (TDST), were prepared and characterized. The geometries of ligands in the complexes are typical: distorted tetrahedral in zinc and cobalt(II) complexes and square planar in nickel(II) compound. Magnetic studies performed for Ni(II) and Co(II) compounds confirm the...

Tuning of photocatalytic activity by creating a tridentate coordination sphere for palladium
PublicationThe synthesis and characterisation of an asymmetric potential bridging ligand bmptpphz (bmptpphz = 2,17-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)tetrapyrido[3,2-a:2’,3’-c:3’’,2’’-h:2’’’,3’’’-j] phenazine) is presented. This ligand contains a 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and a 2,9-disubstituted phen sphere and possesses a strong absorbance in the visible. Facile coordination of the phen sphere to a Ru(tbbpy)2 core leads to Ru(bmptpphz) ([(tbbpy)2Ru(bmptpphz)](PF6)2;...
