The effect of pH change of ketoprofen solutions on the germination of Sorghum bicolor (sorghum) seeds

Description

In these studies, an attempt was also made to determine whether (and, if so, to what extent) the change in pH affects the toxicity of ketoprofen will affect the germination of Sorghum bicolor (sorghum) seeds. As reported by Kudlak B, Wieczerzak M, Yotova G, Tsakovski S, Simeonov V, Namieśnik J (2016) Environmental risk assessment of Polish wastewater treatment plant activity. Chemosphere 160:181-188. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.chemosphere.2016.06.086), environmental water samples (collected from numerous locations in Poland) had pH values ranging from 4.93 to 8.15, with an average value of 7.15 (Kudłak et al. 2016). Therefore,
For this purpose, solutions of ketoprofen were subjected to pH adjustments with concentrated HCl or NaOH. The solutions were adjusted to seven different pH values ranging from 5.5 to 8.5, and the pH was measured with a pH meter. The plates were prepared according to the procedure described in the ieczerzak, M., Kudłak, B. & Namieśnik, J. Impact of selected drugs and their binary mixtures on the germination of Sorghum bicolor (sorgo) seeds. Environ Sci Pollut Res 25, 18717–18727 (2018). https://doi.org/10.1007/s11356-018-2049-4h

The data sets include photos of sorghum seed plates with ketoprofen solutions  at appropriate pH levels according to the publication, and corresponding excel files with data on the length of germinated seeds (using Jimage graphical software) in two replicates, as well as controls with water and the mentioned

Studies were conducted between 2017.
These results are part of the manuscript published in Science of the Total Environment
