Ultrasonic wave propagation, digital image correlation and X-ray micro-computed tomography measurements of concrete during splitting (cube #3)
Description
The DataSet contains the results of the mechanical behaviour of a concrete cube under the splitting test. The cube had dimensions 70 x 70 x 70 cm3 and was made of concrete with the following ingredients: cement type CEM I 42.5R (330 kg/m3), water (165 kg/m3), aggregate 0/2 mm (710 kg/m3), aggregate 2/8 mm (664 kg/m3), aggregate 8/16 mm (500 kg/m3), and super-plasticizer (0.7% of cement content). The splitting test was performed using a Zwick/Roell Z10 universal testing machine (UTM). The parameters of the test were: a preload of 20 N, a constant mid-span displacement increment of 0.1 mm/min. The tests were stopped after 900 s.
During the splitting test, integrated ultrasonic testing (UT) and digital image correlation (DIC) measurements were carried out. Photographs of the front surface of the cube were taken every 2 s by ARAMIS MC 2D 12M. Wave propagation signals were registered every 2 s with a sampling frequency of 8 MHz by a digital oscilloscope PicoScope 4824. The excitation was a five-cycle wave packet with a central frequency of 500 kHz. After splitting, micro-computed tomography (uCT) measurements were performed using SkyScan 1173 scanner.
The experimental analysis was performed on four cubes (denoted as cubes #1–#4) made of the same concrete. The dataset consists of wave propagation signals and images for cube #3.
The photographs (.tif) presenting the front surface of the cube were taken every 2 s. The UT files utilize a comma-separated values (.csv) format and contain wave propagation signals of a length of 5 ms, recorded every 2 s. In a single file, the time vector (in ms) and the signals from channels A (in V), B (in V) and C (in V) can be found. The UTM file has (.txt) extension and contains the time of the test (in s, 2nd column), force (in N, 3rd column) and displacement of traverse (in mm, 4th column). The reconstructed images from X-ray micro-computed tomograph are in (.bmp) files.
