Urban Food Self-Production in the Perspective of Social Learning Theory: Empowering Self-Sustainability
PublicationUrban food production is becoming an increasingly significant topic in the context of climate change and food security. Conducting research on this subject is becoming an essential element of urban development, deepening knowledge regarding the benefits, challenges, and potential for the development of urban agriculture as an alternative form of food production. Responding to this need, this monograph presents the results of...

Effect of the Presence of the Lifting Pocket on The THD Performance of a Large Tilting-Pad Thrust Bearing
PublicationIn this paper, an attempt was taken to study the effect of the lifting pocket on THD performance of a large tilting-pad thrust bearing of Itaipu power plant. B3earing performance was evaluated including recess shape for several cases of its depth. The results show, that hydrostatic recess changes calculated bearing properties quite significantly, especially in the vicinity of the pocket

Hydrodynamic reanalysis of currents in the Baltic Sea using the PM3D model
Open Research DataThe dataset contains the results of numerical modeling of currents in the Baltic Sea since 1998. A long-term reanalysis was performed using a three-dimensional hydrodynamic model PM3D (Kowalewski and Kowalewska-Kalkowska, 2017), a new version of the M3D model (Kowalewski, 1997).

Diamondized carbon nanoarchitectures as electrocatalytic material for sulfate-based oxidizing species electrogeneration
PublicationThe introduction of nanotechnology seems to be an imperative factor to intensify the synergic effects of electrocatalytic materials to produce strong oxidant species or to increase the active sites on their surfaces as well as to enhance the conversion yield in a fuel cell, high-added value products, electrolytic treatment for environmental protection or the detection limit in electroanalysis. Recently, a new type of 3D-diamond...

Estimation of zero buoyancy of the batyscaphe. Pneumatic buoyancy control of the bathyscaphe
PublicationThe subjects of this work are matters concerning the batyscaphe designed and constructed by the Scientific Circle of Young Constructors (SCoYC) acting at the Faculty of Technical Sciences of the Olsztyn University of Warmia and Mazury. The goal od the remote-controlled batyscaphe is an underwater exploration of water resorvoirs in Poland. Design and construction of the unmanned watercraft, also known as a batyscaphe, required the...

Assessment of Corrosive Behaviour and Microstructure Characterization of Hybrid Friction Stir Welded Martensitic Stainless Steel
PublicationThis study examined the effect of induction heating on the microstructure and corrosion characteristics of hybrid friction stir welded AISI 410 stainless steel. Five joints have been produced with different friction stir welding parameters like welding speed, spindle speed, plunge depth, and induction power. Their microstructures were evaluated using a scanning electron microscope, and chemical composition was examined using...

Asymmetric Renyi Problem and > PATRICIA Tries
PublicationIn 1960 R´enyi asked for the number of random queries necessary to recover a hidden bijective labeling of n distinct objects. In each query one selects a random subset of labels and asks, what is the set of objects that have theselabels? Weconsider here anasymmetric version of the problem in which in every query an object is chosenwith probability p > 1/2 and we ignore “inconclusive” queries. We study the number of queries needed...
