Abstrakt

The doctoral dissertation examines the development of VR technology tools for lighting research in architecture in compliance with daylight recommendations from the EN 17037 standard. The main focus of the dissertation is on building a VR tool that can be applied in various other research areas. The research aims to identify new applications of VR in architectural design, particularly in optimizing window views and daylight perception. The dissertation includes a historical overview and analysis of the development of VR technology, from its beginnings to contemporary applications, and discusses the EN 17037 standard for daylighting in buildings. A key component of the work is the development and testing of VR tools, such as the Walkthrough Tool and ALTO VR, as well as the main research tool, Arch ViewR, designed to support architectural research. The goal of the dissertation is to provide practical tools and methodologies that can be used by architects and designers worldwide, contributing to advancements in the field of architecture through technological innovation.
