Abstrakt
A seagoing ship is a working place, an accommodation space and a recreation area at the same time. Being exposed to harsh physical conditions, it must satisfy different requirements. The human organism and its qualities become a point of reference here; consequently, the functions and spatial arrangement and interiors of a ship must be subordinated to its needs. The organisation of the space in contemporary ships meant for human use (the crew and passengers) takes into account such factors as: the natural environment (climate, bio-climate, the rocking of the ship by waves), the material and technical environment (noise and vibrations, humidity, electromagnetic field), the psycho-social environment (ergonomics, sociology), the spatial order and the fulfilment of due regulations and standards. Contemporary ships are both human- and environment-friendly.
