Zmiany przestrzenne w miastach wywołane pandemią COVID-19 a przestrzenny wymiar rewitalizacji.

Abstrakt

The COVID-19 pandemic affects every aspect of the modern world on a global and local scale. Part of the fight against the virus was, among other things, limiting the possibility of movement. In cities, this has resulted in a focus on the spatial aspects of the urbanized environment.

The article aims to analyse spontaneous actions taken in cities to mitigate the effects of a pandemic concerning strategic activities programmed as part of the revitalisation.

Spatial aspects are one of the main thematic areas of revitalization programs as a comprehensive action to improve the quality of life of city dwellers in areas requiring support.

The article is an analysis of initiatives taken in the public space of cities from March 2020 to September 2020 as part of counteracting the spread of the COVID-19 virus and comparing them with the goals of spatial measures in revitalization programs. The analysis is based on a review of published information, messages and articles describing activities undertaken in various cities in Poland and around the world.

Spontaneous spatial interventions undertaken in cities to improve the quality of life during a pandemic are consistent with the spatial activities undertaken as part of the revitalization processes of degraded areas.

Some conclusions result from the observations and individual experiences of the author as a practising urban planner.

Excerpts from this article were presented at the online conference "Smart City" in September 2020.
