Types of wear and tear of biomaterials used in orthopaedic surgery
PublikacjaPurpose of this paper is presentation of observations on different kinds of wear and tear of biomaterials used in contemporary orthopaedic surgery. Types of prosthesis damage, encountered in medical practice, and their causes have been described. Results of many clinical studies were analysed to review prosthesis damage from the stage of implanting (such as intrusion of a foreign object between its components) to their natural...

Late Aortic Remodeling after Endovascular Repair of Complicated Type B Aortic Dissection—TEVAR Protects Only the Covered Segment of Thoracic Aorta
PublikacjaIntroduction: TEVAR is the preferred way of treatment of complicated type B aortic dissection. The purpose of the study was to assess the impact of TEVAR on aortic remodelling in the thoracic and abdominal segment in long-term follow-up. Methods: 23 patients with complicated type B aortic dissection were treated by TEVAR in years 2004-2012 in our Department. Aortic remodelling was rated based on preoperative and final follow-up...

Investigation of polyurethane elastomer–steel joints using glass lacquer as an adhesive agent
PublikacjaThis article describes an innovative method of coupling polyurethane elastomer (based on polyurethane glycolysate) with constructional steel, by implementation of a Glaspur®—glass lacquer containing latent polyurethanes and monosilane adhesion promoters. The commonly applied coupling agent is Cilbond® 45SF glue or its derivatives. Additionally, glycolysate was synthesised from polyurethane waste and 1,3-propylene glycol in 6:1...

Mechanical and thermo-mechanical properties of natural rubber composites filled with submicron- and nano-sized silica particles and prepared using glycolysate as a plasticizer
PublikacjaThe main aim of this work was to examine the selected mechanical and thermo-mechanical properties of natural rubber/silica composites prepared using glycolysate as a plasticizer. Prepared composites contained different amounts of submicron- (10, 15, 20 or 25 pphr) or nano-particles (0.5, 0.75, 1.0 or 1.25 pphr). The tensile properties, tear resistance, hardness, abrasion resistance and resilience of prepared materials were determined....
