Bio

I am an associate professor at the Faculty of Management and Economics, Gdansk University of Technology (GdanskTech, Poland). 

I got my MSc degree in Economics from Gdansk University of Technology (2003) and Universita’ Politecnica delle Marche (2005), followed by MA in Contemporary European Studies from Sussex University (2006, with distinction).  I received my PhD in Economics in 2008 from Universita’ Politecnica delle Marche (Ancona, Italy). In July 2016 I got a habilitation in economics (for which I received the Award of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education). As a post-doc I stayed at  University of California, Berkeley , USA (Fulbright Senior Award, host: prof.David Card)  and at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona, Spain - postdoc, host: prof.Antonio Ciccone). Over the years I have also studied/researched/taught at: University of Roma – La Sapienza;  Universita’ Politecnica delle Marche, Ancona, Italy; University of Macerata, Italy; Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, Portugal;  Yasar University, Izmir, Turkey; Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest,Hungary; IfW Kiel, Germany.

My research interests focus on: international economics (international trade; trade specialisation - diversification; GVCs); the impact of trade, integration, and technological progress on labour markets and productivity. Currently I am involved in research on GVCs/GSCs ( project RETHINK-GSC  Rethinking Global Supply Chains: measurement, impact and policy, financed by Horizon-Europe, 2022-2025), and, as Principal Investigator, in a project  Technological specialisation and productivity divergence in the age of digitalisation, automation and AI, 2021-2024).
