AUDIO SIGNAL EQUALIZATION BASED ON IMPULSE RESPONSE OF A LISTENING ROOM AND MUSIC CONTENT REPRODUCED
PublicationA research study presents investigations of the influence of the room acoustics on the frequency characteristic of the audio signal playback. First, a concept of a novel spectral equalization method of the room acoustic conditions is introduced. On the basis of the room spectral response, a system for room acoustics compensation based on an equalizer designed is proposed. The system settings depend on music genre recognized automatically....

Conducting polymer films for biodegradable metallic cardiovascular stents
PublicationIn recent years, there is increasing interest to create biodegradable metallic cardiovascular stents instead of using their permanent form. The most interesting materials for this purpose are iron and its alloys. However, in order to use it in clinical application, their degradation rate and biological performance need to be optimized. One promising solution is coating the metal with conducting polymer films. In this work, short...

Gas sensors based on conducting polymers-recent developments
PublicationThis work discusses sensing performance dependence of PEDOT polymer and its composites on the counter ions used in the polymerization process. The sensors based on PEDOT-RGO composite show reversible response to NO2, while on PEDOT/LiClO4 irreversible. As a result, PEDOT-RGO could be used as a typical gas sensor, while sensor based PEDOT/LiClO4 could be used as an integrating gas sensor, also known as an accumulating gas sensor....

INFLUENCE OF DATA NORMALIZATION ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF NEURAL NETWORKS APPLIED TO CLASSIFICATION OF PAVEMENT CONDITIONS – CASE STUDY
PublicationIn recent years automatic classification employing machine learning seems to be in high demand for tele-informatic-based solutions. An example of such solutions are intelligent transportation systems (ITS), in which various factors are taken into account. The subject of the study presented is the impact of data pre-processing and normalization on the accuracy and training effectiveness of artificial neural networks in the case...

MnCo2O4 deposited by spray pyrolysis as a protective layer for stainless steel interconects
PublicationStainless steel interconnects working in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells stacks are exposed to high temperature resulting in their corrosion. Protective layers for the hydrogen and oxygen sides are necessary to protect the interconnect material, prolongate the stack lifetime and maintain the output power. In this paper MnCo2O4 protective layer for the oxygen side of the interconnect is deposited by spray pyrolysis and is examined.

NANOCRYSTALLINE CATHODES FOR SOLID OXIDE FUEL CELLS MADE OF NOBLE METALS
PublicationCathodes for solid oxide fuel cells prepared by the infiltration method at 600 °C are presented. The infiltration method allows to produce stable, nanostructured electrodes. Cathodes were prepared using gold, platinum, La2NiO4+δ (L2N) and La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3 δ (LSCF). Symmetrical cathode/electrolyte/cathode samples were prepared and examined with SEM microscopy and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Despite successful deposition...

Non-monotone graph searching models
PublicationGraph searching encompasses a variety of different models, many of which share a property that in optimal strategies fugitive can never access once searched regions. Monotonicity, as it is called, is vital in many established results in the field however its absence significantly impedes the analysis of a given problem. This survey attempts to gather non-monotone models, that are less researched in effort of summarizing the results...

Processing of Hydroacoustic and LiDAR Data for Three-dimensional Surface Reconstruction
PublicationThe technologies of sonar and laser scanning are commonly used for obtaining spatial information about underwater and over ground environments in the form of point clouds. Since this data model has known disadvantages, a more practical solution of visualising such data involves the creation of solid three-dimensional meshes composed of edges and facets. In this paper, several methods for 3D shape reconstruction of data obtained...

RESOURCE ALLOCATION IN DAB+ BROADCASTING SYSTEM
PublicationWith over two billion receivers operating worldwide, radio transmission is by far the most accessible medium. It has been a part of our lives since the 1920’s and has become one of the most trusted and friendly mass media. Today, its popularity is still strong, despite the outcome of many electronic media. In order to transform the radio into a viable medium of the 21st century, it will have to migrate from analogue to digital...

Emotion Recognition Based on Facial Expressions of Gamers
PublicationThis article presents an approach to emotion recognition based on facial expressions of gamers. With application of certain methods crucial features of an analyzed face like eyebrows' shape, eyes and mouth width, height were extracted. Afterwards a group of artificial intelligence methods was applied to classify a given feature set as one of the following emotions: happiness, sadness, anger and fear. The approach presented in this...

INDIRECT CONTROL OVER SUBORDINATE UNITS
PublicationDeveloping a game universe usually involves creation of various units which can be both, encountered by a player or controlled by him. There is a number of works considering autonomous behaviors of units wandering around the game world. When it comes to the units controlled by the player, they are often deprived of autonomy and are strictly controlled by the player. This paper presents a concept of units behavior depending on their...

Merging Images from Parallel Depth Cameras
PublicationIn this paper a problem of simultaneous information acquisition from multiple depth cameras is investigated, aiming at obtaining single overall picture containing information from all cameras. The experiments are carried out on Microsoft Kinect devices. A methodology for merging images from multiple positioned in a line cameras is proposed. The method is based on the concept of simulating a view of an imaginary camera covering...
