Additive manufacturing technology of electroactive three-dimensional structures from diamond reinforced polylactide composites

The project focuses on the development of 3D printing technology using polylactide reinforced with diamond powder, enabling the development of 4D materials for the construction of free-standing sensory systems and actuators with characteristics modifiable by environmental factors. As part of the project, the authors intend to study the micromechanical and rheological interactions of composites, and the mechanisms of charge transfer in the volume of the material and on its surface. The main goal of the study concerns the determination and design of the stability of nanomechanical and electrochemical parameters of the composite, in terms of its use in accordance with the concept of intelligent 4D materials, including microelectrode matrix systems and flow sensors. The generated structures will be tested for the detection of selected organic compounds - anti-inflammatory drugs and antibiotics. The project will contribute to the expansion of the laboratory for the study of electrochemical and physicochemical phenomena of the Gdańsk University of Technology, and will result in numerous publications in Q1 ISI journals. Materials of high application and implementation importance will be produced and improved, which will be the basis for further grant projects, patents and cooperation. New experimental tools and modeling procedures will be developed. The research will be conducted in cooperation with the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Gdańsk. The project closely matches the topics implemented within Advanced Materials and BioTechMed Centres, contributing the development of GUT's main research areas as part of the IDUB project.
