Biography
Tomasz SWEBOCKI was born on October 19, 1994, in Gdynia, Poland.
He began his studies at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Gdańsk, in 2016. In 2019 and 2021, he obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees (with distinction), completing his theses in Analytical Chemistry and Diagnostics. In 2024, he completed his PhD in materials science and microbiology at the Université de Lille, Institut d’Électronique, de Microélectronique et de Nanotechnologie (IEMN), France. He currently occupies university professorship with a doctoral degree at Gdańsk Tech, where he conducts research as part of the Division of Electrochemistry and Surface Physical Chemistry, led by prof. Jacek Ryl.
His research interests focus on the development of innovative materials for biomedical applications, particularly in addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR). This includes creating materials designed to prevent or mitigate the effects of drug-resistant pathogens. Additionally, he is actively involved in constructing biomimetic molecular recognition systems – technologies that imitate natural biological mechanisms to selectively recognize and bind specific molecules. Through this work, he seeks to contribute to cutting-edge solutions in healthcare and medical technology.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with various prestigious institutions, including Ghent University (Belgium), Institut Pasteur (France), Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (France), Materia Nova (Belgium), the Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment, and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (France).
Dr. Swebocki is a member of the Board of the Young Section of the Polish Chemical Society (YSPCS) and a member of the Board of the European Young Chemists’ Network (EYCN). In recognition of his scientific achievements, he has received the Rector’s Award of the University of Gdańsk five times and the Rector’s Scholarship four times. He is the author of five scientific publications (IF = 6), one book, over twenty conference presentations, and eight chapters in scientific monographs.
