Potential diagnostic utility of recombinant Toxoplasma gondii proteins for detecting anti-Toxoplasma gondii IgG antibodies in horses serum samples

Description

Toxoplasmosis is caused by an intracellular protozoan, Toxoplasma gondii, and is a parasitic disease that occurs in all warm-blooded animals, including humans. Toxoplasmosis is one of the most common parasitic diseases of animals and results in reproductive losses. Diagnosis of toxoplasmosis is currently based on serological assays using native antigens to detect specific anti-T. gondii antibodies. Continuous development of scientific disciplines, such as molecular biology and genetic engineering, allows for the production of new recombinant antigens and provides the basis for new diagnostic tests for the detection of anti-T. gondii antibodies in animal serum samples. In this study, the potential utility of 27 single recombinant Toxoplasma gondii proteins (AMA1, AMA1C, AMA1N, BAG1, BSR4, GRA1, GRA2, GRA2ex2, GRA4, GRA5, GRA5-Trx, GRA6, GRA7, GRA9, LDH1, LDH2, MAG1, MIC1, MIC1ex2, MIC1ex3,4, MIC3, MIC3-Trx, P35, ROP1, SAG1, SAG2, SAG4)  for the detection of anti-Toxoplasma gondii IgG antibodies in horses sera was determined.
