The ENACT 15mC consortium has been established to explore how existing urban areas can be transformed to become more walkable and attractive for people to spend time in. Urban Living Labs will be created in Trondheim (NO), Valencia (SP), Gdansk (PO) and Oxford (UK) to draw on the expertise of local residents, public and private sector stakeholders, third sector organisations, property owners and municipalities to co-create physical and operational interventions for testing, refinement and dissemination. The overall goal is to test out different approaches to operationalise the 15mC concept, and to explore how these approaches can enable change in different contexts that will contribute to just urban transitions. The ULLs will enable each of the research partners to scale deep in the local context. Of particular interest are the opportunities to create transformational changes with property owners, an aspect that is under researched and yet is critical to encouraging public support for the 15mC and ultimately, for urban transitions. Learnings from each of the Urban Living Labs will inform guidance directed at the local and national contexts and will highlight salient approaches for scalability and replicability in international contexts. This project is of great importance to GdanskTech as it allows the development new research and implementation activities associated with new philosophy of shaping the space. At the same time, it shall allow consolidation of the cooperation with various partners at the local and international scale. This shall create a platform for the development of the new research and development initiatives.
