Abstract
Basing on quantitative and qualitative characteristics of reject waters generated during digested sewage sludge dewatering on centrifuges in conventional WWTP (RWC) and municipal landfill leachate (LL), the pilot constructed wetlands for treatment of both types of highly contaminated wastewater were designed. In the paper the characteristics of the pilot plants and assumed treatment efficiencies are presented. According to the conception of VF-CW beds working in hydraulic batches, the concentrations of nitrogen in the treated RWC will be similar to the nitrogen concentration in raw wastewater discharged to the WWTP in Gdansk. According to the conception of treatment technology, the pollutants concentrations in treated LL meet the obligatory values defined in the sewage effluent disposal content for the municipal landfill in Chlewnica.
