PublicationThe Pinner synthesis was applied to the prepn. of phenols 4-substituted with cyclic amidines in high yields from readily available 4-HOC6H4C(OMe):NH.HCl and aliph. diamines. An alternative attempt was made to convert 4-HOC6H4CSNH2 to 4-(1,4,5,6-tetrahydro-5-hydroxy-2-pyrimidinyl)phenol. A procedure for the prepn. of 3,6-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-1,2,4,5-tetrazine is reported.
