  • Electroabsorption study of metal-to-ligand charge transfer in an organic complex of iridium (III).

    Publication

W pracy zmierzono i zinterpretowano widmo elektroabsorpcji (EA) próżniowo naparowanych warstw organicznego kompleksu Ir(ppy)3, powszechnie stosowanego jako emiter fosforescencyjny w organicznych diodach elektroluminescencyjnych. Analiza widma EA potwierdziła fakt,że niskoenergetyczne stany elektronowe tego kompleksu związane są z przeniesieniem ładunku metal-ligand.

    - Materials - Year 2020

The oncological use of cisplatin is hindered by its severe side eects and a very important resistance problem. To overcome these problems, scientists have attempted to design new generation transition-metal anticancer complexes. In this study, we present new complexes, ruthenium(II) [(6-p-cymene)RuCl(py2CO)]PF6 (1), iridium(III) [(5-Cp)IrCl(py2CO)]PF6 (2), and NH4[IrCl4(py2CO)]H2O (3), based on di-2-pyridylketone (py2CO). The prepared...

    - POLYHEDRON - Year 2022

The synthesis and characterisation of new anionic iridium(II) complexes (NH4)2[IrCl4(κ2N,N’-H2biim)]2 · 5H2O (1) and ((CH3)2NH2)[IrCl4(κ2N,N’-PyBIm)] · H2O (2) are presented in this article. Spectroscopic methods (1H, 13C and 15N NMR, FTIR, UV-Vis) were used to characterize these new complexes. Solid-state structural analysis (SC-XRD) of complexes 1 and 2 shows a slightly distorted octahedral geometry of Ir(III) ions, which is...

  • Anticancer Study on IrIII and RhIII Half-Sandwich Complexes with the Bipyridylsulfonamide Ligand

    Publication

    - INORGANIC CHEMISTRY - Year 2024

Two non-platinum compounds, organometallic half-sandwich complexes [(η 5 -Cp)IrCl(L)]PF 6 (1) and [(η 5 -Cp)RhCl(L)]PF 6 (2) were prepared by treating pentamethylcyclopentadienyl chloride dimers of iridium(III) or rhodium(III) with the obtained 4-amino-N-(2,2'-bipyridin-5- yl)benzenesulfonamide ligand (L) and ammonium hexafluorophosphate. The crystal structures of ligand (L) and complexes 1 and 2 were obtained and then analyzed. Coordination...

  • Phosphoroorganic Metal Complexes in Therapeutics

The present mini-review highlights recent developments on antitumor activity of metal-based therapeutics which have been a subject of researches for the last few decades. In 1965, Rosenberg found that during an electrolysis on platinum electrodes a complex of Pt is generated which inhibited to a great extent a binary fission in Escherichia coli bacteria. This discovery started a new chapter in medicinal chemistry and the interesting...

  • Quenching effects in organic electroluminescence

    Publication

    - PHYSICAL REVIEW B - Year 2002

We examine various electronic processes that underlie the quenching of the emission from highly efficient phosphorescent and electrophosphorescent organic solid-state molecular systems. As an example, we study the luminescent efficiencies from the phosphorescent iridium (III) complex, fac tris (2-phenylpyridine) iridium [(Ir (ppy)3] doped into a diamine derivative doped polycarbonate hole-transporting matrix and in the form...

    - JOURNAL OF BIOLOGICAL INORGANIC CHEMISTRY - Year 2019

In this paper, we discussed the similarities and diferences in d6 low-spin half-sandwich ruthenium, rhodium and iridium complexes containing 2,2′-biimidazole (H2biim). Three new complexes, {[RuCl(H2biim)(η6 -p-cymene)]PF6}2·H2O (1), [(η5 - Cp)RhCl(H2biim)]PF6 (2), and [(η5 -Cp)IrCl(H2biim)]PF6 (3), were fully characterized by CHN, X-ray difraction analysis, UV–Vis, FTIR, and 1 H, 13C and 15N NMR spectroscopies. The complexes exhibit...

  • Depth chemical profile in a CeIr3 sample

    Open Research Data
    open access

The polycrystalline sample of CeIr3 used in the present studies was synthesized by arc-melting cerium (4N) and iridium (3N5) in an arc furnace on a water-cooled copper hearth using a tungsten electrode under a high purity argon atmosphere. A piece of zirconium was used as an oxygen getter. First, a button of Ir was prepared by arc-melting the iridium...

  • Strong-coupling superconductivity of SrIr2 and SrRh2 : Phonon engineering of metallic Ir and Rh

    Publication

    - PHYSICAL REVIEW B - Year 2021

Experimental and theoretical studies on superconductivity in SrIr2 and SrRh2 Laves phases are presented. The measured resistivity, heat capacity, and magnetic susceptibility confirm the superconductivity of these compounds with Tc = 6.07 and 5.41 K, respectively. Electronic structure calculations show that the Fermi surface is mostly contributed by 5d (4d) electrons of Ir (Rh), with Sr atoms playing the role of electron donors....

    - PHYSICAL REVIEW B - Year 2013

We report the observation of superconductivity in the CuIr2Se4 spinel induced by partial substitution of Pt for Ir. The optimal doping level for superconductivity in Cu(Ir1-xPtx )2Se4 is x = 0.2, where Tc is 1.76 K. A superconducting Tc vs composition dome is established between the metallic, normal conductor CuIr2Se4 and semiconducting CuIrPtSe4. Electronic structure calculations show that the optimal Tc occurs near the electron count...

  • Iridium 5d -electron driven superconductivity in ThIr3

    Publication

    - PHYSICAL REVIEW B - Year 2019

A polycrystalline sample of superconducting ThI r 3 was obtained by arc-melting Th and Ir metals. Powder x-ray diffraction revealed that the compound crystalizes in a rhombohedral crystal structure (R-3m, s.g. #166) with the lattice parameters: a = 5.3394 ( 1 ) Å and c = 26.4228 ( 8 ) Å . Normal and superconducting states were studied by magnetic susceptibility, electrical resistivity, and heat capacity measurements. The results...
