A novel method of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex strain differentiation using polymorphic GC-rich gene sequences.
PublicationTuberculosis is one of the leading infectious diseases. In this work, a new genotyping method of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) complex strain is presented. 27 Mtb genomes were analyzed for the presence of length polymorphism within polymorphic GC-rich gene sequences. Four genes, Rv3345c, Rv3507, Rv0747 and Rv3511, showing variation in length depending on the Mtb strain were selected for designing primer sequences flanking variable...

PCR-Based Genotyping of Mycobacterium tuberculosis with New GC-Rich Repeated Sequences and IS6110 Inverted Repeats Used as Primers.

Isolation and identification of Mycobacterium avium subspecies silvaticum from a horse
PublicationPo raz pierwszy opracowano metodę identyfikacji Mycobacterium avium subsp. silvaticum na podstawie analizy sekwencji DNA alfa antygenu. Zastosowanie enzymu HhaI do trawienia produktu PCR z uzyskanego z udziałem starterów specyficznych wobec genu kodującego alfa antygen pozwoliło na identyfikację Mycobacterium avium subsp. silvaticum. Opracowana nowa metoda pozwala na prowadzenie badań epidemiologicznych bezpośrednio z próbek pochodzących...

PCR amplification with primers based on IS2404 and GC-rich repeated sequence reveals polymorphism in Mycobacterium ulcerans
PublicationOpracowano prostą w wykonaniu metodę genotypowania szczepów bakterii z gatunku Mycobacterium ulcerans. Polimorfizm genetyczny 32 badanych izolatów Mycobacterium ulcerans odzwierciedla ich geograficzne pochodzenie z rejonów Afryki Centralnej, Ameryki Południowej i Łacińskiej, Azji Południowo-Wschodniej, Malezji oraz Australii.

Low-Barrier Hydrogen Bond Determines Target-Binding Affinity and Specificity of the Antitubercular Drug Bedaquiline
PublicationThe role of short strong hydrogen bonds (SSHB) in ligand-target binding remains largely unexplored, thereby hin- dering a potentially important avenue in the rational drug de- sign. Here, we investigate the interaction between bedaquiline (Bq), a potent anti-tuberculosis drug, and the mycobacterial ATP synthase, to unravel the role of a specific hydrogen bond to a conserved acidic residue in the target affinity and specificity....

One-tube cell lysis and DNA extraction procedure for PCR based detection of Mycobacterium ulcerans in aquatic insects, molluscs and fish.

Acid-catalysed synthesis of oxathiolone fused chalkones. Comparison of their activity toward various microrganisms and human cancer lines
PublicationOtrzymano podstawione pochodne oksationolowych sprzężonych chalkonów w wyniku kondensacji 4-acetylo-5-metoksy-2-0ksobenz[1,3]oksatiolu z aldehydem benzoesowym w środowisku kwaśnym. Badano właściwości biologiczne otrzymanych związków. Trzy z otrzymanych pochodnych wykazały umiarkowaną aktywność wobec komórek HeLa, dwa były aktywne wobec Micrococcus luteus i Staphylococcus aureus, a jeden wobec Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Antimicrobial molecular nanocarrier–drug conjugates
PublicationMany antimicrobial drugs are poorly active against pathogenic microbes causing intracellular infections, such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Plasmodium falciparum. On the other hand, several known antimicrobial agents are not effective enough because of their limited cellular penetration. A common feature of both challenges is the inability of an active agent to cross the biological membrane(s). One of the possible approaches...

Antimicrobial Activity of Honey
PublicationHoney has had a valued place in traditional medicine for centuries. It was used to overcome liver, cardiovascular and gastrointestinal problems and for treatment of some types of infectious disease. Particularly, good results were achieved in the case of application of this product for therapy of infected, difficult to heal wounds. The high health-promoting properties of honey have been recently confirmed in many research investigations....

Bakterie i wirusy w wodzie wodociągowej.
Znaczna...
