Przemysław Lopato was born in 1979 in Szczecin, Poland. He received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering in 2008 from the Szczecin University of Technology. Since 2019, he has been an Associate Professor at the West Pomeranian University of Technology (WPUT) in Szczecin.

He completed research internships at the Center for Nondestructive Evaluation at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras / Chennai, India (in 2012 and 2015), and at the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing, China (in 2014). Additionally, in 2022 and 2023, he conducted research internships at the Institute for Microsystem Technology at Furtwangen University, Furtwangen, Germany. Since 2021, he has been the director of the Center for Electromagnetic Fields Engineering and High-Frequency Techniques (CEFE&HFT) at WPUT. Furthermore, he serves as the Head of the Department of Theoretical Electrotechnics and Applied Informatics.

His research interests include metamaterials, electromagnetic non-destructive testing using microwave and terahertz methods, and high-frequency sensors for measuring physical quantities or material properties. He is the author of one scientific monograph, co-author of an academic textbook, and has published nearly 80 articles and two patent applications. He has participated in six national and five international projects.

For his scientific achievements, he was awarded the Polish Minister of Science and Higher Education Scholarship for outstanding young scientists. Additionally, he has served as a secretary and a member of scientific and organizing committees for various national and international conferences. From 2018 to 2022, he was a board member of the Polish Society of Non-Destructive Testing and Technical Diagnostics (SIMP).
