  • Low-energy positron scattering from DNA nucleobases: the effects from permanent dipoles
    Publication

    - EUROPEAN PHYSICAL JOURNAL D - Year 2014

Ab initio quantum calculations for low-energy positron scattering from gas-phase isolated molecular nucleobases which are part of the DNA structure are presented and discussed over the range of 1 eV to 25 eV. The calculations report the integral cross sections (ICSs) and the momentum-transfer cross sections (MTCSs) for Adenine, Guanine, Thymine and Cytosine. The calculations show very clearly the important role of the dominant...

  • Low-energy positron scattering from gas-phase uracil
    Publication

    - EUROPEAN PHYSICAL JOURNAL D - Year 2014

Quantum scattering calculations are presented for the interaction of low energy positrons with the uracil molecule, an important component of biological systems. The rotational elastic and inelastic cross sections and vibrational inelastic cross sections are reported and compared with existing experiments, indicating a general trend of the cross sections different from the experimental findings and in line with what should be expected...

  • Novel Analytic-Numerical Model of Free Convection: with Leading Edge Considered
    Publication

A novel solution of the free convection boundary problem is represented in analytical form for velocity and temperature for an isothermal vertical plate, as an example. These fields are built as a Taylor Series in the x coordinate with coefficients as functions of the vertical coordinate (y). We restrict ourselves by cubic approximation for both functions. The basic Navier-Stokes and Fourier-Kirchhoff equations and boundary conditions...

  • Quantum corrections to quasi-periodic solution of Sine-Gordon model and periodic solution of phi^4 model

Analytical form of quantum corrections to quasi-periodic solution of Sine-Gordon model and periodic solution of phi^4 model is obtained through zeta function regularisation with account of all rest variables of a d-dimensional theory. Qualitative dependence of quantum corrections on parameters of the classical systems is also evaluated for a much broader class of potentials u(x) = b^2 f(bx) + C with b and C as arbitrary real constants

  • Secondary emission influenced fluorescence decay of a homogeneous fluorophore solution
    Publication

    - Methods and Applications in Fluorescence - Year 2014

An analytical expression is found allowing the calculation of the secondary emission influenced fluorescence decay of a homogeneous fluorophore solution. Before starting the calculation one has to know the shape of the primary fluorescence decay of the fluorophore and the value of the parameter kappa denoting the ratio of the secondary to primary steady-state fluorescence intensities. The method elaborated by Budo and Ketskemety...

  • TOTAL CROSS SECTIONS FOR ELECTRON SCATTERING FROM SELECTED HYDROCARBONS: THE SUBSTITUTIONAL AND ADDITIVITY EFFECTS

Total cross sections (TCS) for electron scattering from selected alkyne molecules, ethylene and its derivatives are compared. All cross sections have been measured in a wide energy range, from about 1 eV up to 370 eV, with the same electrostatic electron spectrometer. The substitutional and additivity effects are indicated and discussed.

  • Ultrashort Opposite Directed Pulses Dynamics with Kerr Effect and Polarization Account

We present the application of projection operator methods to solving the problem of the propagation and interaction of short optical pulses of different polarizations and directions in a nonlinear dispersive medium. We restrict ourselves by the caseof one-dimensional theory, taking into account material dispersion and Kerr nonlinearity. The construction of operators is delivered in two variants: for the Cauchy problem and for the...

  • Wstęp do metod numerycznych
    Publication

    - Year 2014

Metody numeryczne to bez wątpienia jedno z najważniejszych narzędzi w rękach inżyniera czy fizyka. W skrypcie przedstawione zostały najistotniejsze własności wybranych metod numerycznych, działanie każdej z nich przystępnie zaprezentowano na przykładach. Rozdział 1 zawiera podstawowe informacje dotyczące błędów obliczeń wykonywanych na maszynie cyfrowej. W rozdziale 2 omówiono metody służące do rozwiązywania równań nieliniowych...
