Abstract
The authors set out and classify the principles of operation of known types of cloud water collectors, and critically review their advantages and drawbacks. Analysis of the literature has yielded information on the parameters of various type of collectors—sampling time, the type of cloud from which the water sample was taken, droplet diameter collected with 50% efficiency (cut off), sample analytes/ parameters determined, types of aircraft used for sampling, and the altitudes at which samples were collected.
