DMSO and TMAO—Differences in Interactions in Aqueous Solutions of the K-Peptide
PublicationInteractions between a solvent and their co-solute molecules in solutions of peptides are crucial for their stability and structure. The K-peptide is a synthetic fragment of a larger hen egg white lysozyme protein that is believed to be able to aggregate into amyloid structures. In this study, a complex experimental and theoretical approach is applied to study systems comprising the peptide, water, and two co-solutes: trimethylamide...

General route for the synthesis of terminal phosphanylphosphido complexes of Zr(IV) and Hf(IV): Structural investigations of the first zirconium complex with a phosphanylphosphido ligand
PublicationReactions of R2P-P(SiMe3)Li with [Cp2MCl2] (M = Zr, Hf) in hydrocarbons yield the related terminal phosphanylphosphidocomplexes [Cp2M(Cl){(Me3Si)P-PR2-jP1}] (R = iPr and tBu). The solid state structures of [Cp2M(Cl){P(SiMe3)-PiPr2-jP1}] (M = Zr, Hf) were established by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The phosphido-P atoms adopt almost planar geometries and the phosphanyl P atoms adopt pyramidal geometries. The reaction...

In Vitro Studies on the Relationship Between the Antioxidant Activities of Some Berry Extracts and Their Binding Properties to Serum Albumin
PublicationThe aim of this study was to investigate the possibility to use the bioactive components from cape gooseberry (Physalis peruviana), blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum), and cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon) extracts as a novel source against oxidation in food supplementation. The quantitative analysis of bioactive compounds (polyphenols, flavonoids, flavanols, carotenoids, and chlorophyll) was based on radical scavenging spectrophometric assays...

Patterned protein microarrays for bacterial detection. Langmuir**2003 vol.19 s. 436-439, 5 rys. bibliogr. 25 poz. Specyficzne mikroukłady protein do wykrywania bakterii.

Anticancer and antimicrobial properties of novel η6-p-cymene ruthenium(ii) complexes containing a N,S-type ligand, their structural and theoretical characterization
PublicationRuthenium(II) complexes are lately of great scientific interest due to their chemotherapeutic potential asanticancer and antimicrobial agents. Here we present the synthesis of new pyrazole carbothioamidederivatives and their four arene–ruthenium complexes. The title compounds were characterized with theapplication of IR, NMR, mass spectrometry, elemental analysis and X-ray diffraction. Additionally, for newcomplexes DFT calculations...

Capping ligand initiated CuInS2 quantum dots decoration on, ZnIn2S4 microspheres surface under different alkalinity levels resulting in different hydrogen evolution performance
PublicationSurface distribution of quantum dots (QDs) at the semiconductor matrix caused by synthesis condition (e.g. pH of solution during coupling) could lead to different photocatalytic activity. Thus, achieving an optimal covering of semiconductor matrix by QDs has been challenging. Herein, the influence of the alkalinity level of aqueous decoration medium for the coupling of mercaptoundecanoic acid (MUA) capped CuInS2 quantum dots (CIS)...

ESCASA : Analytical estimation of atomic coordinates from coarse‐grained geometry for nuclear‐magnetic‐resonance ‐assisted protein structure modeling. I. Backbone and Hβ protons
PublicationA method for the estimation of coordinates of atoms in proteins from coarse-grained geometry by simple analytical formulas (ESCASA), for use in nuclear-magnetic-resonance (NMR) data-assisted coarse-grained simulations of proteins is proposed. In this paper, the formulas for the backbone Hα and amide (HN) protons, and the side-chain Hβ protons, given the Cα-trace, have been derived and parameterized, by using the interproton distances...
