Experimental Study of Dapped-End Beams Subjected to Inclined Load
PublicationThis paper presents the results of an experimental investigation of the reinforced concrete (RC) dapped-end beams loaded with inclined forces, compared to identical ones loaded with vertical forces only. Such a load may occur in, for example, Gerber's joints or in dapped-end beams supported on corbels, where the vertical gravitation force is additionally completed with horizontal forces caused by temperature differences, shrinking,...

Longitudinally magnetized left-handed cylindrical ferrite coupled line junction for nonreciprocal devices
PublicationThis paper presents investigations of longitudinally magnetized left-handed cylindrical ferrite coupled line junction for nonreciprocal devices. The proposed junction is formed as a quasi periodic arrangement of N unit cells. Each unit cell is realized as a cascade of short cylindrical ferrite coupled lines with reactance circuit composed of series capacitors and parallel inductors. The left-handed cylindrical junction with π/4...

Theoretical consideration of free convective heat transfer from a round isothermal plate slightly inclined from the vertical
PublicationA semi-analytical solution of simplified Navier-Stokes and Fourier-Kirchhoff equations describing free convective heat transfer from a round isothermal surface slightly inclined from the vertical is presented. The solution is based on the assumption, typical for natural convection, that the velocity component normal to the surface is negligibly small in comparison to the tangential one. Next we neglect the nonlinear inertia force...

A Series-Inclined-Slot-Fed Circularly Polarized Antenna for 5G 28-GHz Applications
PublicationThis letter presents the design of a single-point-fed, geometrically simple circularly polarized (CP) antenna for 28 GHz Ka-band applications. The proposed antenna is based on a straight microstrip line printed on one side and coupled with the nearly square patches through a 45-degree inclined V-shape slot aperture on the other side. In order to generate circular polarization, the fundamental radiating mode is degenerated at a...

Propagation in a ferrite cylindrical waveguide magnetized by a two four-pole magnetic fields.
PublicationUżywając metody rodzajów sprzężonych rozwiązano zagadnienie ferrytowego falowodu cylindrycznego magnesowanego poprzecznie w układzie elektronicznie obracanego czterobiegunowego pola magnetycznego. W falowodzie występuje zjawisko dwójłomności i przesunięcia fazy. Badano zmiany stanu polaryzacji fali elektromagnetycznej na wyjściu falowodu o różnej długości. Wyniki wykorzystano do zaprojektowania sekcji półfalowej falowodu, w której...

Propagation in a ferrite circular waveguide magnetized through a rotary four-pole magnetic field
PublicationOpracowano uproszczony model matematyczny użyteczny do badania zjawisk polowych występujących w falowodzie cylindrycznym magnesowanym czterobiegunowym polem obrotowym. Wykazano, że falowód ten może być wykorzystany jako przesuwnik fazy lub układ zmieniający polaryzację.

Evaluation of time and space distribution of magnetic flux density in a steel plate magnetized by a C-core

Impact of eddy currents on Barkhausen and magnetoacoustic emission intensity in a steel plate magnetized by a C-core electromagnet.

Activated Sludge Process Development
PublicationThis paper summarizes the most significant steps in the activated sludge process development and recognizes key contributors. Recognition of the roles of oxygen and living organisms was the first step (1882-1914). Ardern and Lockett (1914) named the accumulated olids "activated sludge". The process was rapidly accepted and applied in the period 1914-1930. The most dramatic changes in the activated sludge process understanding and...
