Application of ferric chloride for arsenic removal in the integrated process: coagulation/microfiltration
PublicationThe study presents results of using iron coagulation integrated with microfiltration to remove arsenic from water. Tested samples of natural groundwater contained approximately 32 μg/L of arsenic, 0.13 mg/L of iron and 0.085 mg/L of manganese. As a coagulant the aqueous solution of ferric chloride was dosed in portions from 1.0 to 10.5 mg/L. In the research microfiltration membranes with 400 kDa MWCO were used. Tests indicated...

Hydrochar-nanoparticle integration for arsenic removal from wastewater: Challenges, possible solutions, and future horizon
PublicationArsenic (As) contamination poses a significant threat to human health, ecosystems, and agriculture, with levels ranging from 12 to 75% attributed to mine waste and stream sediments. This naturally element is abundant in Earth's crust and gets released into the environment through mining and rock processing, causing ≈363 million people to depend on As-contaminated groundwater. To combat this issue, introducing a sustainable hydrochar...

Removal of Arsenic from Wastewater Using Hydrochar Prepared from Red Macroalgae: Investigating Its Adsorption Efficiency and Mechanism
PublicationArsenic (As) is a prominent carcinogen component produced via both geogenic and anthropogenic processes, posing serious risks to human health. This study aimed to investigate the potential of hydrochar prepared from red macroalgae for removing As from synthetic wastewater. The hydrochar was produced through 5 h hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) treatment at 200 °C, and then, chemically activated with ferric chloride hexahydrate...

Usuwanie arsenu z wody podziemnej z wykorzystaniem koagulantów żelazowych i filtracji - badania pilotażowe i doświadczenia z eksploatacji
PublicationAutorzy publikacji przedstawili doświadczenia ze stosowania koagulantów żelazowych w uzdatnianiu wód podziemnych charakteryzujących się podwyższonym stężeniem arsenu. Szczególny przykład stanowią badania nad optymalizacją warunków prowadzenia procesu (dawka koagulantu, prędkość filtracji) pracującej małej stacji uzdatniania wody w Nowym Klinczu, które doprowadziły do uzyskania ponad 90% skuteczności usuwania arsenu.
