Engineering Au nanoparticle arrays on SiO2 glass by pulsed UV laser irradiation
PublicationWe study semi-regular arrays of Au nanoparticles (NP) obtained via UV laser irradiation of thin Au films on glass substrate. The NP structures are prepared from films of a thickness up to 60 nm produced by discharge sputtering or pulsed laser deposition, and annealed by nanosecond laser pulses at 266 or 308 nm, respectively, at fluencies in the range of 60-410 mJ/cm2. For the rare- and close-packed NP structures, consistent description...

Absolute grand-total electron-scattering cross-section (TCS) was takenat impact energies from 0.6 to 300 eV in the linear electron-transmission experiment. The TCS energydependence for the electron–C5H6collision has two prominent enhancements separated with a deepminimum located near 1.8 eV. In addition,...

The heat flux propagation is transferred into the materials, which here are: silica glass; soda-lime-silica glass; borosilicate glass; polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA); polycarbonate (PC); and polydimetylosiloxane (PDMS). This analysis aims to...

Extraction of antenna pattern from near field antenna measurements distorted by undesired emission
PublicationIn this paper authors present experimental correction of antenna pattern obtained from near field measurements when they are distorted by determined electromagnetic emission. Such situation may be met e.g. when feeding or supply subsystem interacts with antenna radiation pattern due to self-emission. Presented results of experiments show effectiveness of extraction of antenna pattern utilizing near field antenna measurements.

Effect of Time Varying Measurement Conditions on Antenna Pattern in Near Field Measurement and Its Correction Procedure
PublicationAuthors present the procedure of taking into account the changes of electrical parameters of setup due to the time drift of temperature during the procedure of near field measurement. It is proposed to make additional measurements in determined positions of probe are next used the results to introduce corrections terms in measured data. Such approach was verified practically in experimental near field measurement system.

Cross sections for electron collision with pyridine [C5H5N] molecule
PublicationThe absolute grand -total cross section (TCS) for electron scattering from pyridine, C5H5N, molecules has been measured at impact energies from 0.6 to 300 eV in the linear electron-transmission experiment. The obtained TCS energy dependence appears to be typical for targets of high electric-dipole moment; the cross section generally decreases with rising energy, except for the 3–20 eV range, where a broad enhancement peaked near...

MEASUREMENT AND ANALYSIS OF ELECTRIC FIELD INTENSITY NEAR SELECTED TRANSMITTERS OF MOBILE TELEPHONY BASE STATIONS
PublicationWireless connectivity has become increasingly common in recent times. Day by day, there are more radiocommunication devices and new ideas for them. In the near future, when the fifth generation networks will be implemented, whose main feature will be continuous wireless communication, we must approach the issue of electric field measurements more and more carefully.

Electron collisions with X(CH3)4 molecules (X = C, Si, Ge)
PublicationAbsolute grand-total cross sections (TCSs) for electron scattering from tetramethylmethane [C(CH3)4], tetramethylsilane [Si(CH3)4], and tetramethylgermane [Ge(CH3)4] molecules have been measured at electron-impact energies extending from around 0.5 to 300 eV in the linear electron-transmission experiment. The measured TCS energy dependences show very pronounced broad enhancement, peaking near 5.5 eV for Si(CH3)4 and Ge(CH3)4 molecules...

Electron scattering from 2-methyl–1,3-butadiene,C5H8, molecules: Role of methylation
PublicationWe report cross-section results from experimental and theoretical investigations into electron collisions with the 2-methyl–1,3-butadiene [C5H8] molecule. The current results are compared with our previous results for the 1,3-butadiene [C4H6] molecule, a structural homologue of 2-methyl–1,3-butadiene, to investigate how the methylation (the substitution of hydrogen atom by a methyl group) affects the shape and/or magnitude of the...

Considerations about the applicability of the Reynolds equation for analyzing high-speed near field levitation phenomena
Publicationequation for analyzing near field levitation (NFL) phenomena. Two separate approaches were developed, experimentally verified, and applied to meet the research objective. One was based on the Reynolds equation and the other was based on general conservation equations for fluid flow solved using computational fluid dynamic (CFD). Comparing the calculation results revealed that, for certain operating conditions, differences in the...

Electron collisions with methyl-substituted ethylenes: Cross section measurements and calculations for 2-methyl–2-butene and 2,3-dimethyl–2-butene
PublicationWe report electron-scattering cross sections determined for 2-methyl–2-butene [(H3C)HC==C(CH3)2] and 2,3-dimethyl–2-butene [(H3C)2C=C(CH3)2] molecules. Absolute grand-total cross sections (TCSs) were measured for incident electron energies in the 0.5–300 eV range, using a linear electron-transmission technique. The experimental TCS energy dependences for the both targets appear to be very similar with respect to the shape. In each...

The proposed sensing technique involves two electrical entities: the sensor, which may be regarded as a reader, and a disposable tag. The reader is a modified design of a gap-coupled microstrip line (GCML) sensor, while the passive tag is a standard double-ring complementary split-ring...

Quasi-analytical Near-to-Far Field Transformation Based on Field Matching Method for Scattering Problems
PublicationA new quasi-analytical near-to-far field transformation based on field matching method (field expansion in a base of Hankel functions) is presented. This approach uses finite element method to obtain near field, then the field is expressed in a base of Hankel functions. The evaluated coefficients allow to calculate the field outside the numerical domain, also in a far distance. The main advantage of the proposed technique is avoiding of...

Fragility analysis of structural pounding between adjacent structures arranged in series with various alignment configurations under near‑field earthquakes
PublicationA major cause of local to total damages is related to structural pounding in a large number of past earthquakes. In general, these collisions take place as a result of differences in the dynamic characteristics of the colliding structures. To acquire a better perception of the behavior of structures, in this paper, three structures featuring different heights are modeled in series and with various configurations next to each other...
