In the last thirty years, there has been a spontaneous development of science and economy, with particular emphasis on the non-public education sector. It seems that the situation in the higher education market has now stabilized,
with a slight downward trend in absolute terms.


The market for educational services in the field of higher education is divided into two sectors: public universities and non-public universities. There are also denominational universities in Poland that grant the professional degrees of master's or bachelor's in theology.


In the academic year 2010/2011, 1,841.3 thousand students were educated at all types of higher education institutions, by 3.1% less than in the previous year, while in comparison with the academic year 2000/2001, the number of students was higher by 16.2%. In 2010, the number of newly admitted students to the first year of studies, both full-time and part-time, decreased. In total (excluding foreigners) 441.3 thous. students compared to 472.6 thous. in 2009, ie less by 31.3 thous. people (6.6%).
