Multi-agent systems registration and maintenance of address mapping without agent self-registation
PublikacjaMonitoring of dynamic multi-agent systems, here agents are allowed to appear and disappear, and can migrate between network nodes is a complex tasks. Applying the traditional monitoring methods is not effective, as little can be assumed in advance about such environments. It is necessary to track changes in addressing and availability of agents to create and maintain mapping between agents and their network addresses. The...

Systems of Public Higher Education in Poland and Germany. Evidence from Institution Level Data
PublikacjaThe chapter presents a comparative analysis of public higher education systems (HES) in Germany and Poland. Instead of limiting our study to macro indicators such as gross expenditure on higher education or R&D as per cent of GDP, we draw on the evidence based on micro data especially collected for this study and concerning individual higher education institutions (HEIs). Comparative analysis is based on a sample of 71 public...

Application of the finite element methods in long-term simulation of the multi-physics systems with large transient response differences
PublikacjaApplication of the Finite Element Method (FEM) and the Multibody Dynamics Method allows analyzing of complex physical systems. Complexity of the system could be related both to the geometry and the physical description of phenomenon. The metod is the excellent tool for analyzing statics or dynamics of the mechanical systems, and permits tracking of Multi Body System (MBS) transient response for the long-term simulations and application...

A ship domain-based model of collision risk for near-miss detection and Collision Alert Systems
PublikacjaThe paper presents a new model of ship collision risk, which utilises a ship domain concept and the related domain-based collision risk parameters. An encounter is here described by five variables representing: degree of domain violation (DDV), relative speed of the two vessels, combination of the vessels’ courses, arena violations and encounter complexity. As for the first three variables, their values can be directly computed...

Innovative investment funds and stability of financial systems: Nonparametric study of exchange-traded funds in Europe
PublikacjaThe main aim of the paper is investigation of the potential contribution of exchange-trade funds (ETFs) to the instability of the European financial systems. The paper begins with presentation of the key theoretical concepts with regard to ETFs and financial stability. We discuss the key attributes of ETFs as the innovative category of investment funds, their hypothesized impact on the financial stability as well as briefly describe...

Using an IEEE1149.1 Test Bus for Fault Diagnosis of Analog Parts of Electronic Embedded Systems
PublikacjaThe new solution of a BIST called the JTAG BIST for self-testing of analog parts of electronic embedded systems is presented in the paper. The JTAG BIST consists of the BCT8244A and SCANSTA476 integrated circuits of Texas Instruments controlled via the IEEE 1149.1 bus. The BCT8244A is a scan test device with octal buffers, and the SCANSTA476 is a 12-bit ADC with 8 analog input channels. Self-testing approach is based on the fault...

Two‐functional μBIST for Testing and Self‐Diagnosis of Analog Circuits in Electronic Embedded Systems
PublikacjaThe paper concerns the testing of analog circuits and blocks in mixed‐signal Electronic Embedded Systems (EESs), using the Built‐in Self‐Test (BIST) technique. An integrated, two‐functional, embedded microtester (μBIST) based on reuse of signal blocks already present in an EES, such as microprocessors, memories, ADCs, DACs, is presented. The novelty of the μBIST solution is its extended functionality. It can perform 2 testing functions:...

Monitoring of Chlorine Concentration in Drinking Water Distribution Systems Using an Interval Estimator
PublikacjaThis paper describes the design of an interval observer for the estimation of unmeasured quality state variables in drinking water distribution systems. The estimator utilizes a set bounded model of uncertainty to produce robust interval bounds on the estimated state variables of the water quality. The bounds are generated by solving two differential equations. Hence the numerical efficiency is sufficient for on-line monitoring...

DOP and Pseudorange Error Estimation in Mobile GNSS Systems for Android OS Applications
PublikacjaIn the near past, GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) were only offered for a narrow group of recipients. Nowadays, thanks to mobile devices, they are available to anyone and everywhere. Personal navigation, searching for POI (Point of Interest), etc., had become a basic essential activity. Thanks to the widespread and availability of smartphones each user can obtain information considering his or her location even in an...

Stone cutting industry waste-supported zinc oxide nanostructures for ultrasonic assisted decomposition of an anti-inflammatory non-steroidal pharmaceutical compound
PublikacjaPowdered stone waste (PSW) obtained from a stone cutting industrial unit was applied as support for the immobilization of nano-sized ZnO to be utilized as an effective catalyst for the catalytic conversion of acetaminophen (ACE) under ultrasonication. The incorporation of ZnO nanostructures into PSW structure enhanced the specific surface area and pore volume of the as-prepared nanocompound. The change in the value of zero point...

Optimised Allocation of Hard Quality Sensors for Robust Monitoring of Quality in Drinking Water Distribution Systems
PublikacjaA problem of optimised placement of the hard quality sensors in Drinking Water Distribution Systems for robust quality monitoring is formulated. Two numerical algorithms to solve the problem are derived. The optimality is meant as achieving a desired trade off between the sensor capital and maintenance costs and resulting robust estimation accuracy of the monitoring algorithm. The robust estimation algorithm recently developed...

Locally Adaptive Cooperative Kalman Smoothing and Its Application to Identification of Nonstationary Stochastic Systems
PublikacjaOne of the central problems of the stochastic approximation theory is the proper adjustment of the smoothing algorithm to the unknown, and possibly time-varying, rate and mode of variation of the estimated signals/parameters. In this paper we propose a novel locally adaptive parallel estimation scheme which can be used to solve the problem of fixed-interval Kalman smoothing in the presence of model uncertainty. The proposed solution...

Greedy Multipoint Model-Order Reduction Technique for Fast Computation of Scattering Parameters of Electromagnetic Systems
PublikacjaThis paper attempts to develop a new automated multipoint model-order reduction (MOR) technique, based on matching moments of the system input–output function, which would be suited for fast and accurate computation of scattering parameters for electromagnetic (EM) systems over a wide frequency band. To this end, two questions are addressed. Firstly, the cost of the wideband reduced model generation is optimized by automating a...
