  • Determination of sex hormone concentration in wastewater samples.

    Dane Badawcze

Concentration levels of five selected steroid hormones in influent and effluent waters from wastewater treatment plant were determined using SPE(C18)-HPLC-ESI/MS/MS method.  Sex hormones like: estradiol, estriol, estrone, 17-α-ethynyloestradiol, progesterone were present in all influent wastwater samples.

Anaerobic ammonia-oxidizing bacteria have a more comprehensive metabolism thanexpected - there may be other electron acceptors that oxidize ammonium nitrogen under anaerobicconditions, in addition to the well-known nitrite nitrogen, one of which is sulfate in the sulfammoxprocess. Sulfate-containing compounds are part of the medium for the anammox process,...

    • D. Derwis (Grubba)

Two granular sequencing batch reactors were operated for 160 days under anammox conditions, comparing the Anammox process and Sulfate Reduction Ammonium Oxidation process. The study aimed to investigate whether increasing the concentration of SO42- could enhance N removal rates under anaerobic conditions, and whether SO42- reduction and anammox processes...

  • Powder x-ray diffraction pattern of polycrystalline Cu(IO3)2*xH2O

    Dane Badawcze
    open access

Hydrated copper(II) iodate sample was prepared in water solution by reacting copper(II) sulfate and potassium iodate, following the method described by Peterson (J. Chem. Educ. 1957, 34, 12, 612). The sample was subsequently dried at various temperatures in order to produce an anhydrous Cu(IO3)2:

  • The PolarScreen™ Estrogen Receptor Competitor Assays for determination of estradiol equivalent concentrations (EEQs) in sewage and drinking water samples.

    Dane Badawcze

Municipal waste waters are one of the main sources of estrogenic compounds in aquatic environments. Feminization of fish downstream of Waste Water Treatment Plants (WWTPs) discharges has been observed worldwide. Some estrogenic chemicals, particularly steroid estrogens, are known to cause disruption of the endocrine system of fishes and abnormalities...
