Chemical structure, thermal and mechanical characterization of bio-based polyurethane composites filled with microcrystalline cellulose
Abstract
Over the past several decades, the interest in replacing the synthetic components used in the production of polymers and composites with their natural counteparts has been growing. Biocomposites belong to the group of materials produced with the use of renewable raw materials. There has been a recent surge of interest in the industrial applications of composites containing natural fibres reinforced with biopolymers. Biopolymers are hugely useful as a matrix for bio-fibre reinforced composites. Bio-based materials became increasingly adequate as has been demonstrated by many practical applications of intensively researched novel compositions and processes. The aim of this work was investigated the influence of different amounts of MCC powder dispersed in bio polyurethane matrix synthesized with using bio-based ingredients such modified soybean oil (25 or 50% wt.) and bio-glycol on structure, thermal and mechanical behavior of obtained materials.
