Abstract
Department of Microwave and Antenna Engineering decided to modernize the laboratory of Ultra High Frequency Techniques. The main change was to replace measurement of the field distribution inside rectangular waveguides by analysing the fields around striplines. This involved the need to overcome several technical and conceptual problems. Precise positioning of the probe and reading the field distribution near the stripline is important for repetitive and accurate measurements. The key element of this setup was an integrated controller, which is presented in this paper. Accurate positioning of probe carriage using a stepper motor and a screw drive was used. The RF signal in stripline was sampled using the near field probe and logarithmic detector IC. Acquired data were displayed on the LCD screen. As a result, modern, easy to use and precise equipment for conducting technologically advanced lab classes were developed.
