Abstract
The paper is concerned with estimating the believability of data acquired from web services. In the paper, a new method for believability estimation is introduced. The method is designed for integrating web services. The believability estimation is based on the following metrics: quantity, reputation, approval, independence, traceability, maturity, authority and objectivity. In the method, data trustworthiness is determined by the credibility of the data source. In the believability estimation, information about data provenance is used. Moreover, the method is based on the consideration that it is possible to increase the data believability not only by finding more believable sources of data, but also by acquiring the same kind of data from many different sources and analyzing this data. It is possible in the field of web services because there are many vendors of the same kind of services.
