  • Selected acoustic images of the Gdansk Bay

    Publication

The main goal of the paper is to describe the results of sounding the Gdansk Bay seabed by using a parametric sub-bottom profiler, multibeam echosounder and side scan sonar. Quality of dsata obtained during trials depends interalia on a proper location of antenna to reduce influence of pitch, roll and heave motions as well as ship noise.

  • Analysis of the process of water entry of an amphibious vehicle

    Publication

The paper presents a method of computational and experimental analysis of the process of water entry of an amphibious vehicle. The computational method is based on the Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes Equations (RANSE) solver and the xperiment was carried out in the towing tank at Ship Design and Research Centre S.A. with the use of a scale model. The analysis was focused on the safety of water entry, i.e. the maximum pitch and...

  • An extension to the FEEDB Multimodal Database of Facial Expressions and Emotions

    Publication
    • M. Szwoch
    • L. Marco-gimenez
    • M. Arevalillo-herráez
    • A. Ayesh

    - Year 2015

FEEDB is a multimodal database that contains recordings of people expressing different emotions, captured by using a Microsoft Kinect sensor. Data were originally provided in the device’s proprietary format (XED), requiring both the Microsoft Kinect Studio application and a Kinect sensor attached to the system to use the files. In this paper, we present an extension of the database. For a selection of recordings, we also provide...

  • Gdansk Bay sea bed sounding and classification of its results

    Publication

The main goal of this paper is to describe the results of sounding the Gdansk Bay sea bed by using a SES-2000 Standard parametric sub-bottom profiler. Quality of data obtained during trials depends inter alia on a proper location of transducer array to reduce influence of pitch, roll and heave motions as well as ship self noise (resulting from bubbles due to propeller and flow around hull, vibration generated by main engine and...

  • Acoustic imaging of selected areas of Gdansk Bay with the aid of parametric echosounder and side-scan sonar

The article presents and analyses the data recorded during sounding of the Gdansk Bay seabed with the aid of a parametric echosounder and a side-scan sonar. The accuracy of seabed structure examination, as a condition for obtaining valuable results, requires correct configuration of echolocation devices and proper calibration of peripheral devices, such as the survey unit geographical position sensor – GPS, the navigation unit,...

  • The Motion Analysis of Attacus Atlas Rigid Wing

    Publication

    - International Review of Aerospace Engineering (IREASE) - Year 2022

The remarkable aerodynamic efficiency of flapping insect wings has fascinated researchers for many years. Butterfly wings are distinguished by a much larger lifting surface, and thus, a different style of flapping flight. The considerations described in the article are an introduction to a fully flexible analysis of the wing in motion. The study of the rigid wing gives the basic knowledge necessary in the further process. The yaw,...

  • Measuring Tilt with an IMU Using the Taylor Algorithm

    Publication

This article addresses the important problem of tilt measurement and stabilization. This is particularly important in the case of drone stabilization and navigation in underwater environments, multibeam sonar mapping, aerial photogrammetry in densely urbanized areas, etc. The tilt measurement process involves the fusion of information from at least two different sensors. Inertial sensors (IMUs) are unique in this context because...

  • Usage of parametric echosounder with emphasis on buried object searching.

    Publication

    - Year 2013

The purpose of this article is to present the results of investigation to search for buried objects. The paper will contain echograms and other means of visualization from buried pipe placed between area of W?adys?awowo and gas platform and interesting in terms of the number of small and medium-sized unidentified objects found in the muddy bottom at different depths localized in the Gulf of Puck - results will be presented also...

  • A multiparameter simulation-driven analysis of ship response when turning concerning a required number of irregular wave realizations

    Publication

    - OCEAN ENGINEERING - Year 2024

The growing implementation of Decision Support Systems on modern ships, digital-twin technology, and the introduction of autonomous vessels cause the marine industry to seek accurate modeling of vessel response. Despite the contemporary 6DOF models can be used to predict ship motions in irregular waves, the impact of their stochastic realization is usually neglected and remains under-investigated. Especially in the case of turning, differences...

  • Post processing and selecting data obtain with parametric sub-bottom profiler SES-2000 Standard during sounding the Gulf of Gdansk

    Publication

    - Year 2012

The main goal of the paper is to describe the results of sounding the Gulf of Gdansk seabed using a parametric sub-bottom profiler SES-2000 Standard. Quality of obtained during trials data depends inter alia on proper location of antenna to reduce influence of pitch, roll, heave and ship noise (bubbles from propeller and a hull flow, vibration from main engine and peripheral devices). Furthermore calibration of complementary units...

  • Assessment of the Accuracy of Determining the Angular Position of the Unmanned Bathymetric Surveying Vehicle Based on the Sea Horizon Image

    Publication
    • K. Naus
    • Ł. Marchel
    • P. Szymak
    • A. Nowak

    - SENSORS - Year 2019

The paper presents the results of research on assessing the accuracy of angular position measurement relative to the sea horizon using a camera mounted on an unmanned bathymetric surveying vehicle of the Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) or Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) type. The first part of the article presents the essence of the problem. The rules of taking the angular position of the vehicle into account in bathymetric surveys...
