  • Determination of electrode impedance by means of exponential chirp signal.

    Publication

Przedstawiona została nowa metoda pomiaru impedancji elektrodowej.

  • Optimization of impedance measurements using ''chirp'' type perturbation signal

    Publication

W pracy przedstawiono innowacyjny sposób pomiaru impedancji przy użyciu sygnału niestacjonarnego "chirp". W procesie akwizycji pobudzenia i odpowiedzi prądowej zastosowano zmienną częstotliwość próbkowania. Podejście takie pozwala zarówno na wielokrotne zmniejszenie ilości niezbędnych do otrzymania widma impedancyjnego rejestrowanych danych jak również upraszcza i przyspiesza proces obliczeniowy. Stwierdzono iż dokładność wyników...

  • A novel method of local chirp-rate estimation of LFM chirp signals in the time-frequency domain

    Publication

In the paper, novel dynamic representations of a complex signal in the time-frequency domain are introduced. The proposed approach is based on using the gradient of the short-time Fourier transform complex phase. A channelized instantaneous complex frequency (CICF) and a complex local group delay (CLGD) are included in the presented signal representations. An application of the newly-introduced distributions is demonstrated by...

  • Time variable gain for long range sonar with chirp sounding signal

The main purpose of applaying Time Variable Gain (TVG) in active sonars with digital signal processing is to reduce dynamic range of echo signal and adapt it to the dynamic range of the analogue to digital conversion. With high transmission losses level, the dynamic range of the input signal in long range sonars can be very high and even exceed 200dB. When chirp sounding signals with matched filtration are used, sonars can raech...

  • Sonar Pulse Detection Using Chirp Rate Estimation and CFAR Algorithms

    Publication

This paper presents a new approach to sonar pulse detection. The method uses chirp rate estimators and algorithms for the adaptive threshold, commonly used in radiolocation. The proposed approach allows detection of pulses of unknown parameters, which may be used in passive hydrolocation or jamming detection in underwater communication. Such an analysis is possible thanks to a new kind of imaging, which presents signal energy in...

  • Radar Signal Parameters Estimation Using Phase Accelerogram in the Time-Frequency Domain

    Publication

    - IEEE SENSORS JOURNAL - Year 2019

Radar signal parameter estimation, in the context of the reconstruction of the received signal in a passive radar utilizing other radars as a source of illumination, is one of the fundamental steps in the signal processing chain in such a device. The task is also a crucial one in electronic reconnaissance systems, e.g. ELINT (Electronic Intelligence) systems. In order to obtain accurate results it is important to measure, estimate...

  • Chirp-rate estimation of FM signals in the time-frequency domain

    Publication

Novel dynamic representations of a complex signal in the time-frequency domain including: a channelized instantaneous complex frequency (CICF), a complex local group delay (CLGD) and a channelized instantaneous chirp-rate (CICR) are introduced. The proposed approach is based on the use of the gradient of the short-time Fourier transform complex phase. An interpretation of the newly-introduced distributions especially of the CICR...

  • Chirp Rate and Instantaneous Frequency Estimation: Application to Recursive Vertical Synchrosqueezing

    Publication

    - IEEE SIGNAL PROCESSING LETTERS - Year 2017

This letter introduces new chirp rate and instantaneous frequency estimators designed for frequency-modulated signals. These estimators are first investigated from a deterministic point of view, then compared together in terms of statistical efficiency. They are also used to design new recursive versions of the vertically synchrosqueezed short-time Fourier transform, using a previously published method (D. Fourer, F. Auger, and...

  • Analysis of Impulse Responses Measured in Motion in a Towing Tank

    Publication

    - Year 2023

The growing interest in developing autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and creating underwater sensor networks (USNs) has led to a need for communication tools in underwater environments. For obvious reasons, wireless means of communication are the most desirable. However, conducting research in real conditions is troublesome and costly. Moreover, as hydroacoustic propagation conditions change very significantly, even during...

  • Comparison of Doppler Effect Estimation Methods for MFSK Transmission in Multipath Hydroacoustic Channel

    Publication

    - IEEE Access - Year 2024

Underwater wireless communication remains a challenging topic, particularly for applications such as wreck penetration where multipath and Doppler effects are very intense. These effects are becoming even more difficult to mitigate for fast data transmission systems that utilize wideband signals. Due to the low propagation speed of acoustic wave in the water, there is a significant difference between the Doppler shift for lower...

  • Estimation of time-frequency complex phase-based speech attributes using narrow band filter banks

    Publication

    - Year 2017

In this paper, we present nonlinear estimators of nonstationary and multicomponent signal attributes (parameters, properties) which are instantaneous frequency, spectral (or group) delay, and chirp-rate (also known as instantaneous frequency slope). We estimate all of these distributions in the time-frequency domain using both finite and infinite impulse response (FIR and IIR) narrow band filers for speech analysis. Then, we present...

  • Measurement of Impulse Response of Shallow Water Communication Channel by Correlation Method

Performances of underwater acoustic communication (UAC) systems are strongly related to specific propagation conditions of the underwater channel; conditions that can additionally change in time due to the movement of the acoustic system transmitter and receiver or to reflection by underwater objects of the transmitted signal. The time-varying impulse response is a comprehensive description of dynamically changing transmission...

In this paper, a novel approach for time-frequency analysis and detection, based on the chirplet transform and dedicated to non-stationary as well as multi-component signals, is presented. Its main purpose is the estimation of spectral energy, instantaneous frequency (IF), spectral delay (SD), and chirp rate (CR) with a high time-frequency resolution (separation ability) achieved by adaptive fitting of the transform kernel. We...

  • Fast bubble dynamics and sizing

    Publication

    - JOURNAL OF SOUND AND VIBRATION - Year 2015

Single bubble sizing is usually performed by measuring the resonant bubble response using the Dual Frequency Ultrasound Method. However, in practice, the use of millisecond-duration chirp-like waves yields nonlinear distortions of the bubble oscillations. In comparison with the resonant curve obtained under harmonic excitation, it was observed that the bubble dynamic response shifted by up to 20 percent of the resonant frequency...
