  • Surface treatment of C80U steel by long CO2 laser pulses

    Publication

The paper presents the results of laser-melted C80U steel. The processed steel was placed between two permanent magnets and laser beam whose scanning velocity was 10 mm/s. CO2 laser beam was working in pulse mode. Pulses were generated at 100% of the average preset power of 700W, with 45 ms irradiation, zero interval between pulses and beginning of pulse repetition upon the achievement of the average laser power. During the operation,...

    - Construction and Building Materials - Year 2022

One of the most essential components of structural design for civil engineers is to build a system that is resistant to environmental conditions such as harsh chemical environments, and catastrophic disasters like earthquakes and hurricanes. Under these circumstances and disturbances, conventional building materials such as steel and concrete may demonstrate inadequate performance in the form of corrosion, deterioration, oxidizing,...

  • Numerical analysis of pile installation effects in cohesive soils

    Publication

    - Year 2018

In this thesis the empirical equation for radial effective stress calculation after displacement pile installation and following consolidation phase has been proposed. The equation is based on the numerical studies performed with Updated Lagrangian, Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian and Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian formulations as well as the calibration procedure with database containing world-wide 30 pile static loading tests in cohesive...

  • Surface Roughness Evaluation in Thin EN AW-6086-T6 Alloy Plates after Face Milling Process with Different Strategies

    Publication

    - Materials - Year 2021

Lightweight alloys made from aluminium are used to manufacture cars, trains and planes. The main parts most often manufactured from thin sheets requiring the use of milling in the manufacturing process are front panels for control systems, housing parts for electrical and electronic components. As a result of the final phase of the manufacturing process, cold rolling, residual stresses remain in the surface layers, which can influence...

    - Heliyon - Year 2023

The objective of the current study was to analyse the microstructure, mechanical characteristics, and residual stresses of a dissimilar welded joint (DWJ) made of P92 steel and the Inconel alloy 617 (IN617) using the gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) method. The ERNiCr-3 filler was selected to produce the conventional V groove (VG) and narrow V groove (NVG) butt joint. The filler deficient zones in the weldments, such as the filler...

  • Direct design of Controlled Modulus Columns (CMC) based on in-situ testing

    Publication

    - Year 2023

In this paper, the serviceability limit state and bearing capacity of tension screw displacement piles were analyzed using the results of static pile load tests, carried out on the test plot near the Elbląg city, and field, and laboratory tests. The paper presents the methodology of determining the pile load-settlement curve using different types of t-z transfer functions. The new method of constructing the pile load-settlement...

    - ENERGY - Year 2015

The main aim of this paper is to estimate the lifetime of water walls of pulverized-coal boilers at nominal conditions as well as after degradation of water tubes. An approach for a pulverized-coal chamber degradation process has been formulated based on operational and experimental data. This model was formulated using on-line state monitoring of a pulverized coal burner with aim of preventing the fireplace screens from high degradation...
