The aim of the course is to identify and demonstrate knowledge of the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, and historical trends in small hydropower. This course examines the principles of sustainability and renewable energy conversion with emphasis on hydro energy resources. Concentration is placed on the relationships between the renewable resources, conversion technology and economic feasibility along with consideration of the associated risks and environmental impacts. Students will understand both the principles of operation and the application of hydropower technologies in an evolving energy economy.
