Angular welding distortion - one sided fillet weld

Opis

Welding is the basic method of joining ship hull elements during its construction. However, this method of joining structural elements generates shrinks. Shrinks causes deformation of the entire welded structure, both linear and angular. In the shipbuilding industry, there is a tendency to oversize fillet welds, at the design as well as manufacturing stage. Larger joints make the deformation greater and more difficult to remove. In addition, a larger amount of heat introduced into the material may affect the degradation of the mechanical properties of the material from which the structure is made. For relatively simple cases, such as a single butt or fillet joint, there are theoretical models that allow for fairly accurate estimation of welding deformations. In the case of more complicated constructions, both due to the number of elements, as well as the welding method, welding position and sequence of welding, such as flat panel, determination of welding distortions is possible only by means of numerical simulation. The presented dataset contains a record of welding parameters of the test joint - one-sided fillet weld and record of linear and angular deformations measured during welding process of test models. The welding process was executed following the welding procedure (WPS) for the welding method 136 - FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), approved by classification society. The dataset is an extension of the information contained in the related article. In the paper influence of oversizing of weld on angular distortions of joint is presented basing upon of the results of the laboratory measurements. Values determined on the basis of literature hypotheses are compared with the one obtained from the laboratory test.
