Tropospheric delays derived from GNSS observations during the derecho event in Poland of 11th August 2017
Opis
Propagation of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) radio signals is disturbed by the current state of the Earth's atmosphere. For this reason, advances processing of GNSS signals can be used for investigation of the atmospheric condition. In case of troposphere, the GNSS signals allow for obtain information of tropospheric delay, which is mainly expressed in zenith direction (zenith tropospheric delay, ZTD). ZTD parameter reflects the temporary state of the troposphere, while its variability reflects weather changes. For this reason, we can refer to GNSS meteorology.
This dataset contains ZTDs estimated during the severe weather event of derecho in Poland on 11th August 2017. Calculations were conducted based on 30-seconds GPS/GLONASS observations derived from the 278 GNSS stations located in Poland. They belong to the three reference networks - national ASG-EUPOS and two commercial: TPI NETpro and VRSNet.pl. All calculations were performed using Bernese GNSS Software version 5.2 and precise point positioning (PPP) method. The a priori zenith hydrostatic delays model were taken from Vienna Mapping Function 1 (VMF1), whereas the wet delays were estimated every 5 min using the VMF1 wet mapping function. The tropospheric gradients were estimated with a 15-minute interval based on the Chen & Herring gradient mapping function. The a priori relative constraints equal to 2 mm for tropospheric delays and 0.2 mm for gradients were applied. The ionospheric free linear combination was used for elimination of first order delay of the ionosphere. The second and third order were also modelled. All observations below the 5-degree elevation angle were excluded. The IGS14 type mean antenna models were used. Estimated ZTDs and tropospheric gradients with a 5 and 15-minute intervals, respectively, are stored in separate TRP (native Bernese GNSS Software format) files for each station.
